Does anybody have an Ashford Joy? If so, do you like it? If you had it to do over again would you still buy it?
How about a Lendrum? Anybody got a lendrum double treadle (the fold up kind)? What’s your review? Would you buy it again?
Lets try this…. if you have a spinning wheel…. and you use it… what’s your review of your wheel(s)? What are the best features of the wheel and what would you change about it if you could?
Do you have any spinning wheel horror stories (your experience or somebody you know)?
Lets just call this a little spinning wheel survey.
Do you read the forums on Knitters Review (www.knittersreview.com)? I’ve been flirting with wheel spinning too and find reading about other people’s wheel decisions (in the spinning forum) to be informative.
I’ve been drop spindling so far but am thinking about a lendrum when it’s time for a wheel. Why lendrum? I’m interested in a portable wheel and the lendrum fits me better (I’ve sat in front of a joy and a lendrum dt and the height of the lendrum was better for me. Also, it seems like I would get more ratios with the lendrum – and thus more growing room as my spinning skill increases.) I plan on testing them more at a local store before making the purchase, though.
Hope you are enjoying the spinning class!
I have an Ashford Traveller, and I love it! The Joy just didn’t look like a spinning wheel to me (I’m so picky). The Traveller is a double treadle, but I have been known to spin one-footed when I get a cramp in the other (no difference at all in the spinning).
I got my wheel from Copper Moose online–very nice to deal with.
And as for my fair isle experience, Annie is number three (the first two being a golf head cover and the Olympic vest). Thanks for the compliments!
