Saturday Sky and Other Activities

This morning we lazed around the house for awhile and then headed over to Flaming Geyser State Park.  We were supposed to be taking a hike along the Green River.  Instead the trail didn’t spend much time going along the Green River, Anna Grace was bored, I was bored and we bailed out midway through.  We did have some fun playing by the river before we headed off.

Here’s a photo of today’s sky taken from the banks of the Green River.

Take Me to the River:
While we were standing next to the river Dana asked me if I thought it would be ok to let Anna Grace wade in the water.  I told him that if he and Anna Grace wanted to stick their feet in that ice cold water well… that was their problem.  I, however, had enough sense to stay on dry land.  I think AG soon figured out that the water was a wee bit too cold for her as well.

You Spin Me Right Round….:

I finished spinning the merino wool that I had.  I ended up without about one skein’s worth when I did a double ply.  I still have a little bit of a single let over.  I need to learn how to do a navajo ply for times like this.  I have some other singles too that I can’t do much with unless I figure out how to ply them.   Here’s my skein.  The flash bleached out the colors a bit but the sun had already gone down so I had no other option for taking a photo.

Ignore the teal yarn, that’s what I used to tie the skein with.

I’m getting better but as you can see, I still have a ways to go.  I’m just so impressed  with myself that I spun merino and it didn’t all fall apart when I went to ply it.  I’m out of roving except for some corriedale that I plan on dying and then the alpaca that I bought a few months back.  Maybe I’ll give the alpaca another try.
