Where Dreams Come True

A beautiful day over Cinderella’s castle.

Monday morning I sat here before my little computer and wrote a  post about Anna Grace’s birthday.  I then wondered what we would do together as a family that afternoon.  AG has a birthday party planned for Saturday but what could we do to just hang out together and celebrate her birthday?

Well…. as I sat here that morning reading blogs I learned something that had my brain screaming “Thank goodness our Disney passes haven’t expired”.  Yep, my beloved little Disney passes have one week of use left on them and that’s a good thing. Because Monday morning I stumbled onto my friend Amy’s post and learned of all Anna Grace could do if she went to Disney on her birthday. Everybody makes a fuss over the kids and they have a great day at the park.  And we could go for free!  Woo Hoo!!!!

Riding in the very front of the monorail…with the monorail driver.

I quickly went to the Disney portal, got her signed up.  I picked her up at school, we had some lunch at home and we were off.  Because we were pass holders, Anna Grace got a gift card for $63.00 that she could spend in the parks. Why? Well… you can get in to Disney for free on your birthday but if you already have passes, they give you the value of that “free ticket” in the form of a gift card.  Now, while I just learned of this little plan that morning, my daughter apparently already had the facts.  When she knew she could shop she immediately wanted a princess dress and said she wanted to be Tinkerbell.  (This was news to us since we didn’t know she even knew who Tinkerbell was!).

I thought use her gift card to get her dress as we left but someone was only interested in getting her dress…and having ice cream (I agreed that she could eat whatever she wanted, even the things we usually avoid due to her food intolerance issues….but only if she agreed to deal with the consequences.  She agreed!).  After a while of saying let’s wait, I finally realized that getting her dress was more important to her than the rides so off we went.  Once the dress was purchased, she wanted to wear it.  RIGHT THEN.  So…. we took her to get changed and she was thrilled.

Tinkerbell

After she got the dress, she perked up. Everyone at Disney kept saying Happy Birthday, Tinkerbell or Happy Birthday, Princess.  And she believed it all.  She had a blast and a big smile, from ear to ear. She wanted to ride roller coasters…and had a blast on Thunder Mountain Railroad…her very first roller coaster.  Then she saw Splash Mountain and wanted to give that a shot as well.  And she was thrilled.  I was happy to see I have  a roller coaster enthusiast on my hands.

We stayed until the fireworks started and the park closed.  We put Tink on the monorail and headed back.  Meanwhile, she informed us that she is no longer named Anna Grace.  Instead her name is Tinkerbell.

I think she had a great birthday….and had all of her dreams come true!

  1. SO very AWESOME!! Isn’t that neat that you got “free money” because of the pass…what a blessing. Looks like she had a blissful time. I hope we will be able to take the kiddoes back to Disneyland Paris sometime soon. They still talk about the trip we took 2 years ago…

  2. It looks like a great day was had by everyone! To be five again and know the joy of a special dress. Happy Birthday Anna Grace. And Happy Anniversary to you Kris on being a mom.

  3. Isn’t it grand to live close to Mickey? And to be five and ride at the front of the monorail and dress up and BECOME Tinkerbell, well, you couldn’t ask for a better day.

  4. So fun! I’m so going to Disneyland on my b-day! I’ve heard that you can put the cost of your free ticket toward an anuall pass too…

  5. Well, I think she might just be the cutest Tink I have ever seen! Maybe she can wear the dress for us next month.
