Waffle Waffle

I think we now have enough evidence to say that I love the waffle rib.  This has become my often repeated sock pattern.  More interesting than stockinette, not as mundane as regular ribbing.  Good T.V. knitting that takes a smidge of focus, but not much.

Or could it be that I just like the name.  I do have a fascination with toaster waffles and syrup so, it would stand to reason that I’d be a big fan of the waffle rib.

Here’s a progress shot….

I was trying to do the ever-so-artistic "Sock on the Sidewalk" photo when a certain hand model demanded anxiously volunteered to hold the sock in progress.

Now, this yarn is Cascade Sassy Stripes.  You don’t hear folks talking about this yarn very much.  One reason may be that their color choices are limited and some of them are a wee bit….um…. bright.  They do, however, have some pretty and not-so-bright color combos as well.  I also like the way it stripes.  The stripes overall are wider.  Plus, you have a section that stripes, followed by a section of solid.  I  like this striping pattern, I know some don’t, but I really do.

When we started carrying this in the shop I liked it a lot but thought the yarn could use a smidge of  improvement.  Well, I don’t know what has happened but the base yarn for Sassy Stripes has either been changed or they are doing a better job with quality control.  It is now quite soft and next to no splitting.

Nice, soft, durable, inexpensive and fun to work with…. what more could yarny want?

Featured pattern (read: the Wannabe’s current sock recipe)…. 3 x 3 waffle rib.  (See?  I can’t even type that without thinking of syrup. )

  1. …and we would need thick cozy socks foooor???…[what reason?] Ms. Short wearing..green grass background… HA! Oh, yes…very nice color and pattern! sorry for my touch of jealously of your weather right now 😉

  2. Those colors are so much prettier than the Sassy Stripes I used for my first pair of socks. It was red, pink, white, black & grey – mostly the first two colors. I think I could use them to stop traffic {g}

  3. I love the colorway and the pattern is a classic!

    I got my dreamy package today!! I LOVED the “artichoke” sample but there’s only one left :( It’s sooooo soft!

    Are you still knitting with the SKA group?
