I am an organization freak but a chaotic life had me a little less than organized. I was trying to catch up and always felt like I was chasing my tail. The usual method of “the family notebook” wasn’t cutting it anymore.
And then I messed up a disc in my back. What fun!
This left me having to work from the laptop while lying down or working as fast as I could while at the desk. I then took to trying to make the laptop have all the info I needed so I could work just as efficiently from my “ouch, my back hurts” posture up stairs as I could down at my desk. All work, all everything, had to be done based on one truth: It hurts to sit down therefore I refuse to sit down. I will lie down, I will stand, but I. will. not. sit. down.
Bouncing back and forth between computers, seeing things pile up, etc was making me crazy so, something had to be done.
First I set up iGoogle for myself and I felt pretty proud of that. I know I’m the last person on the planet to do this but hey… I’ve finally decided to be a big girl and get ‘er done. Then I started downloading Firefox add ons… some helped, some didn’t. And then I found ToodleDo.
ToodleDo is an online to-do list. You can make it as simple or as complex as you wish. I haven’t even scratched the surface of what using Toodledo can… ahem… “do”. But I did find that they have an iGoogle app so when I turn on my computer…whichever computer… there’s my google calendar and my ToodleDo to-do list staring me in the face. The only thing that is missing is some big brawny dude that tries to strangle you if you ignore the to-do list items. That little upgrade could be helpful.
I’ve gotten more done in the past few weeks than I had in quite some time. Friends are starting to be a bit irritated at me because I’m bombarding their inbox with must do this, was just thinking of that, etc. I think many of them wish that I had never found ToodleDo. As a to-do list addict, I’m in to-do list nirvana with the little thing but, I’m sure my friends and family find that infuriating!
As a side note, the back is doing much better. I’m moving around, and even sitting around, a lot better. And I’m all organized, pseudo-caught up, the sun is shining, all is grand….. hee hee.
I also have discovered the wonder of Toodledo. It syncs with my to do list on my ipod touch and my mobile phone too. I use it for both work and home. Unfortunately I am not as good as knocking off the tasks as you are.
Oh boy–that’s something I really need.
Glad you are starting to feel better. Back pain is so awful and demoralizing.
I must have missed the post of your sore back. I’m so sorry! Trying to keep up on the house, a home business AND a dd who enjoys fashion, that’s hard enough to do w/OUT pain. Glad you are doing a bit better, but don’t strain yourself.
Hadn’t heard about that…I might have to go check it out.
I’m sorry your back is out; that really is no fun. Hope it feels better soon!
I haven’t heard of either… but I don’t have an ipod yet either. I want to start walking and get one and put messages on it that I want to catch up with. But I want to start walking with my daughter and would also like to use that time to just listen to her too!
