Returning to “Normal”????

I’m slowly trying to return to the regularly scheduled events of our life.  Got back to church, returned to a pseudo-normal daily schedule (but that one is still a bit sketchy!) and I almost have the contractors out of my life.

For those not in the know, we demolished a bathroom.  Project was started  6 weeks late, Jack Henry came 2 weeks early and the project is currently 8 weeks behind schedule.  To sum up… I have a newborn, an enomous amount of dust and multiple strange men in my house…. all at the same time. End result: I’m a tad cranky, overwhelmed and my mouth has absolutely no filter.  None!  At. all!!!!!  So, if you talk to me… may I apologize in advance for my obnoxious observations and unladylike language as I guarantee that almost every conversation with me has a little bit of both.

I am making multiple attempts to return to some sort of a normal life.  So far….

I returned to knitting this week.  I  picked up the Traveling Woman shawl and thankfully, it is a pretty easy knit.  I’m not exactly “flush” with brain cells right now so if it had been too difficult to figure out, I’d woulda chucked the thing.

I returned, sorta, to my knitting group.  They were all meeting in the little town of Montverde on Friday and invited me and the kiddos to come visit.  Anna Grace talked constantly, Jack Henry slept most of the time and I weaved ends into a finished project….and enjoyed the company of my knitbuds.  I had a great day.

I began the long and ugly project of weaving the ends into the Baby Surprise Jacket.  I had given up on trying to just work with the separate balls of yarn and had just cut the yarns at the end of their stripe.  I am now paying for this decision because I have 14,000 ends of yarn to weave into this project.  It should be ready in time for Jack Henry to wear during his Sophomore year of college.

Baby Surprise Jacket: Not Blocked, Ends Flyin’ Free

I have returned to seeing patients and I am really enjoying it.  I do fear that I’m a bit spacey at times but have taken to checking over everything again and again and again and again.  I always did this before (see…more returning to normal) but I’m just a tad more obsessive about it (if that is actually humanly possible).

I have returned to  having to listen to hours upon hours of my mother’s drama and as soon as things seem a tad safer for her.. I will return to screening phone calls.  These past weeks have been quite draining and I’m not exactly certain which part of I JUST HAD A BABY!!!! seems to have gone without notice.  But that, my friends, in reality, is also a sign of “returning to normal” because such is life with my mother!

Anna Grace had a ballet recital, I met a blog buddy and all of this occurred and I didn’t blog about it.  I did however write many blog posts in my head about it so I will do my best to actually get that posted.  I’d promise to do it but… seeing as the blog has been quite silent… I’m not so hot at keeping “blog promises” lately.

Well, I think that about sums things up.  Goal for this week: return to park day (maybe), return to spinning and return to figuring out what needs to be done to restore Mr. Weaver.

Toodles, y’all!!!

  1. Welcome back to blog world. Life is never the same after having a baby…. So whatever normal was… was! This is a new thing and you can make it what you want (dream on)! Glad to see ya’ back at CCOTL. Missed you!

  2. You know that “normal” is only a setting on your dryer anyway. Glad to read you again. Enjoyed your precious bundle in the nursery yesterday.

  3. Glad to have you back in the world of the semi-living! I’ve been following you on Facebook, but do enjoy the extended postings on the blog.

  4. Normal?? You just had a baby!!! There is no normal until they start school. and even then it’s a different kind of normal. I’ve been bad with blogging as well. Trying to get back in the swing of things, esp with school almost over I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! And so far its not a train! One day I’ll even meet up with the girls at One Flight Up. Maybe in a month.

  5. “normal is only a setting on your dryer”–snort. I will have to use that one.

Love the shawl, I hadn’t seen that pattern before. And what do you think about fringe on the Baby Surprise?? Hey, it could work…

  6. All bets are off while living through a bathroom remodel. No need to explain beyond that or apologize for anything. Those of us who have lived through it understand and feel for you. Those who have not are luckier than they will ever know.

I hope everything calms down soon, sweetie.
