Lots of Fun

We have had lots of fun, little activities over the past several days.  How about a listy list?

1.  On Friday we drove to Orlando to see one of my Washington knitting buddies. Dorothy was here visiting her grandkids and we met up for a visit.  AG and the grandbabies had fun  playing together and I got to catch up with Dorothy and her daughter-in-law Abby.

Visiting with Dorothy

Friday was really hot here in Florida but if you are from Washington, it was near unbearable.  So Dorothy and Abby had the idea of going to get an Italian Ice.  I had never had one before but now….I’m hooked.  Seriously yummy!

2.  Friday night we went to the 4th of July celebration in Eustis (I guess technically it is a 3rd of July celebration).  Our church put a little motor home there so nursing moms would have an air conditioned, private spot to nurse their baby, change diapers, etc.  We also passed out bug spray and such.  Some folks brought the colored hair sprays and kids were lining up to get all sorts of crazy colors in their hair.

Anna Grace’s New Haircolor

Anna Grace chose pink and orange.  That stuff rinses out easy but getting it off the surface of the bathtub is another story altogether.

Fireworks

We enjoyed the fireworks show and then headed home.

3.  Saturday we passed out home made pies to our neighbors and wished them a happy 4th.  It was nice to get to meet some more of the folks living around us.  Later in the day: party with friends!  Woo Hoo.

4. Sunday I got to see Noah.  I was so excited about how great a week he had at Soma-RPM that I made him some gfcf ice cream.  I have been trying my hand at making ice cream that Anna Grace could eat and I think I have mastered chocolate coconut milk ice cream.  It was fun to make a batch for Noah and catch up with Lisa, hear about the trip to Austin, etc.

5. I went to St. Pete yesterday with a bunch of ladies from Calvary Chapel of Orlando.  We met Debbie Friley who has started a great ministry called Salt & Light.  I learned a lot and had a lot of fun driving over with my buddy Maryann.

6. Today Anna Grace and I attempted to go letterboxing up in an area called The Villages.  The Villages started as a retirement community but it is now a whole town.  They have all these shopping areas up there with things like Barnes and Noble, etc.  I thought we could find some letterboxes in that area and it would give us a chance to explore and see what’s up there.

We steered our way through the maze of old town facades and golf cart brigades and found the location for our first box but the box was missing.  And then the rain started.  We hid in one of the fake covered wooden bridges (long story….you’d have to see all the things this developer has done in this area to be able to believe it!) .  Anna Grace insisted that the rain was over, I said it wasn’t. We debated and I decided to head toward the B & N since it was now just sprinkling.  BIG MISTAKE.

Anna Grace Soaking Wet

The rain picked up all of a sudden and we got totally soaked.  So… we headed back home.  The adventure was not a total loss.   We saw some interesting sites and I figured out where the Aldi is in Lady Lake.  And I had a pretty fun time just hanging out with Anna Grace.  :-)

We’ll try to letterbox in The Villages on another day.

Well, that’s about all that is going on around here.  What’s happening in your life?

  1. Yes indeedy it was HOT! But we had fun anyway and I am seriously missing that Italian ice! Cool and rainy here today, but I am NOT complaining!!

  2. I’m still fantasizing about that ice cream.
    It was YUMMY.
I’m glad the Salt & Light day was so great…I can’t wait to get it going at CCOTL! :)

  3. Look at that HUGE smile on AG’s face!! LOL Love it! And I’m impressed you didn’t get compltely lost in the Villages. That place is a MAZE! I had some friends visiting their mom there and I was given a map to their house once I got an initial map to get to the outside of their development to begin with! However a few years ago the IO and I went to Weirsdale’s B&B and hung out at one of the squares for dinner and dancing in the street! Also strange to see alcohol being served out of an icecream truck! LOL

  4. I want your ice cream recipe please. Isn’t it crazy up there in the Villages!!! Did you see the Bison?
