Let the Contests Begin

Dana is having a birthday this week.   As his gray hairs multiply I thought we could have a few contests around here to celebrate Dana’s birthday.  He doesn’t want anything for his birthday so instead, we’re giving stuff away.  "Stuff" as in yarn.  (Did that get your attention?).

Leave your answers in the comments.  If nobody gets it right, we’ll draw names of all those who participated.

Today’s contest has to do with names.

Dana is named after a 1950’s – 1960’s movie star.  He wasn’t a leading man but more of your "supporting actor" type of guy.  What is the name of the actor that Dana is named for?  (Winner will receive some OnLine sock yarn.)

Deadline…… Answer by 9:00 a.m. (EST) tomorrow.  After that I’ll choose a winner, announce it and post the next contest.

Moving on……

All Christmas celebrations occurred without a hitch.  Anna Grace got a big wheel from one set of Grandparents and announced "It’s beautiful" when she opened it.  She also got a 1930’s roadster pedal car from my mom which she is thrilled with.  She keeps asking if she can fill it up with gas (NO!), she wants to drive it on the road like mommy does with her car (NO!) and she is currently planning her trip to the grocery store in the little thing (NO!).  The car is bright pink and I’ll post a photo soon because it is a cutie pie.  Currenty her and her new tickle Elmo (compliments of my father….. the sender of this year’s loudest toy) are driving the car around the living room.  The very small living room.

Must go.  Mom and I are taking Stepfather’s truck over to sell it today.  Not looking forward to it but we just need to get it done!

Toodles y’all!!!!!

  1. Gotta be Dana Andrews? He’s an oldie from the serious black and white/war movies days…sort of looked like my Dad, who was also an oldie form black and white days :)

    I want a pink car – that sounds very cute!

  2. The first Dana I thought of was Dana Owens, but that’s Queen Latifah, so I knew it wasn’t that. Then I thought of Dana Carvey, but he was probably born in the 50s himself. Had to do the research, and I agree with Dana Andrews. I could think of it, but the last name just didn’t pop into my head right away! Coincidentally, I was almost named Dana myself when I was born, but due to my father remembering the name of a character on a TV show when he was a kid, they opted for Danielle instead. Oh well!

  3. Well I’m going to guess Dana Andrews too, since I googled it, and only came up with 2 Dana’s and one was a female leading star. A friend of mine has a ‘Dana’ hubby as well :}

  4. I’m positive it’s Dana Andrews. Not only is he the only Dana that fits the bill, but … I read it on your list of 100 factoids! How do you like that – someone who read and remembered what you said, and is ready for the test.

    Happy Birthday to Dana, Merry Christmas to you, and Happy New Year to all.

  5. I’m Dana’s cousin, so I should know this, But I’m not sure. I also thought it was Dana Andrews. I had rotator cuff surgery 2 weeks ago and I have to keep my left arm in a sling for 6 weeks. The only “activity” I can do is knit. I’m on my 3rd hooded baby sweather! Happy Knitting, Kandee
