Flower Basket Shawl

I ended up getting in some extended knitting time this weekend.  We won’t discuss why the earth apparently fell off its axis and I actually finished 4 repeats on FBS.  Lets just accept that it happened.

Here’s a progress shot:

I’m using Dream in Color Smooshy in the color Cool Fire.  If you’re not familiar with Smooshy it isn’t your average sock yarn.  It is a bit thicker, sort of like a lite sport weight.  So, when I started the shawl I was going to do 16 repeats, the amount called for if using a fingering/sock yarn.  But it is getting quite large when I factor in blocking and I’m in the middle of my 12th repeat.  I am wondering if I need to stop at fourteen. I’ll decide when I get there.

Eventually the Dream in Color Baby will be here.  (We’ve been told a few times that it was "en route" when it wasn’t so I’m not sure when it will actually arrive.) For those of you who aren’t too keen on laceweights, Baby may be the one for you.  I understand that it is a smidge thicker than regular laceweight.

  1. I have a skein of the DIC Baby already (in Flamingo Pie, if you’re curious), and it is GORGEOUS! It’s definitely more of a light fingering weight than a lace weight. I can’t wait to find something to use it for.

And your shawl is looking great! Good luck getting a size you like. =)
