Anna Grace’s “Party”

I posted about Anna Grace’s birthday but we never got around to showing you our celebrations.   Her mother… who is currently the size of a small country… decided that she did not have then energy or brain cells to throw a real birthday party.  She thought going to Disney World would be so much more doable (yes… I see the irony.  Lets not talk about it.)

So… the day before AG’s birthday we did a little party at Disney.  All of her buddies have passes, their momma’s had passes and AG wanted to invite one more friend.  I figured the cost of that ticket was cheaper than a birthday party so…. off we went.

There was one complication to this plan: I was pregnant and banned from pretty much each and every ride.  So, my friends Lori and Lisa spent the day taking my kid on rides while I sat with whichever kids decided they didn’t want to ride that particular ride.  Rinse and repeat.

First up… Aunt Woobie “takes one for the team”.  The very first thing we did (after riding the train) was head to Splash Mountain.  Lori (Aunt Woobie) said Jason had been looking forward to it and AG loved that ride last year so… off they went.

Now…. you get a little wet on Splash Mountain, that is to be expected.  But sometimes, things go awry.

Soaked to the Bone: Aunt Woobie Takes One for the Team

These three were so wet and AG has not stopped talking about it.  I will never get that kid on Splash Mountain again…ever!  And…they never got dry.  AG’s pants were still wet when we got home that day.

Isaac, Jason, AG, Chloe and Ella… the Birthday Party Gang

The kids had fun even though it was hard to coodinate.  Some like roller coasters, some don’t.  Some like this ride, others don’t.  Isaac wants to just ride and ride and ride the train but past that… he’s not too interested.  And Ella… well she just waited patiently until we got to the ride for A Small World.  But my kid?  My kid wanted to ride all these roller coasters.

So… Lisa took AG on Space Mountain for the first time and I’m a bit misty that I didn’t get to see it.  Apparently my kid got all excited over the fact that the ride goes fast AAAAAANNND it goes in the dark.  Unfortunately, we kinda traumatized Chloe.  It was also her first time on Space Mountain, she’s there with me and without her parents and she wasn’t nearly as impressed as AG.  I think she got a wee bit scared.  We thought she might actually hurl there for a little bit but it passed.

Let Them Eat Cake

(because just being at Disney doesn’t make them nearly hyper enough).

I managed to find little chocolate cakes at Disney, popped in a candle that I had brought with me and voila!  We had a birthday celebration.

Overall it was a great, but uber tiring, day.  And then we did it all over the next day!

Tuesdays are the day that we usually head to the park.  AG’s friends all meet up on Tuesday afternoons and while she was okay with the Disney idea, she got hung up on the fact that she wanted her park friends to come to a party.  I, her mother who is the size of a small country, avoided my great plan being destroyed by promising that her park friends could still sing to her and have cake.

(One Disney ticket + One additional cake and snacks = still less than a birthday party.)

Her friends were there, we had snacks…and more cake… and AG was thrilled.

Finally, we spent the evening together with Dana’s folks.  AG had seen that Dana had bought me flowers for my birthday and she thought that was pretty cool.   So… when Daddy came home from work she was thrilled to see that he bought her some flowers too.

Anna Grace and her Birthday Flowers.

We went to dinner with Dana’s folks and then had….more cake.  (For those keeping track…that would be cake #3).

We had a great day celebrating Anna Grace.   Can’t believe my baby girl is 6!
