Actual Knitting

I know.  I’ve not been keeping up with the ol’ blog.  Usually that means I’m in a panic or a depressive stupor but not this time.  I was actually knitting.  Ok, there was some panic and some depressive stupor but there was also knitting.

Also I….

Organized much of the house.
Finally got caught up on laundry.
Claimed I was cleaning up the office but didn’t seem to finish that job.
Organized the knitting stash and found some stuff I no longer wanted.
Comtemplated sticking above mentioned stuff  on ebay. Didn’t do it but I contemplated it.
Got freaked out over possibility of losing AG’s therapists…. with less than 3 weeks notice.
Convinced husband to call and fix above situation so I didn’t go to prison for killing someone.
And I knitted too.

In addition, we had a bunch of shipments come in so we’ve been taking photos of yummy new yarn, Lantern Moon knitting needles and some cool books.  I still have to write up some descriptions but other than that much of the stuff has been listed in the shop.

I’ve also been contemplating how to convince the UPS man to let me take his picture and put him on my blog.  Ya see, I think "Brown" may think I’m a crazy person since he has to deliver very large boxes of yarn to my house.  One day when he had to bring me four large boxes he actually asked what was inside.  I happily chirped "yarn" and he kinda backed away.  He politely backed away but he still backed away.

Now "Brown" comes here frequently because of the yarn shop but also because I shop online all the time.  He is ever so kind and I thought that I should take his picture and introduce "Brown" to all my imaginary blog friends.  But, ya know, I don’t think this little idea will succeed in convincing "Brown" that I’m not as crazy as he thought I was.  Nope, I think he’ll think I’m 100% buckwild crazy if I ask to take his picture for a website where I write about knitting and yarn.

Yep, it may not be a winner of an idea.

(Well lookie, lookie.  I don’t post for days on end and when I do you get me rambling like a fool.  Aren’t you lucky!)

Back to the knitting.  Ok… true confession.  My knitting actually had me a wee bit depressed and possibly having some anxiety.  It wasn’t all the knitting, it was the FPS knitting.  I feel stressed because I’m not keeping up.  And there is some torture involved.  One word people.  Nupps.  And as soon as I conquer the nupps (if conquering such a thing could actually be possible) I’m sure another problem is just around the corner.  (As you can see, I need to brush up on my "positive thinking" skills.)

So, I put the FPS in the corner.  I actually said that I was quitting but I hate the thought of being known as a KAL quitter.  So here’s the "official" FPS story.  I’m taking a break while I contemplate what the correct needle should be.  Now, how long do you think I can keep this going for?  One month? Two?  Do I hear a three from anyone?????

I know.  The FPS-ers are going to hunt me down and make me face up to things.  But they didn’t catch me this week so I worked on the sleeve.

Now I was just going to lengthen it and then re-do the motif.  But I got a comment on that post that pointed out that one of my rows was off.  One of those lice stitch rows and, of course, it was one near the beginning.  I thought about ignoring it but then when I looked at the sleeve all I could see was that one row.  Plus, the pattern has you do this weird checkerboard thing along the underarm portion that, in my humble opinion, looks messy and, dare I say, dumb.  I thought it would look better if it was just plain.  So, I just started the whole sleeve over.

(Oh look, Ethel.  She’s going to include one lousy photo in this long, rambling, diatribe)

I have several more miles of lice stitch to go before I get back to the sleeve motif but I’m having fun and, bonus, there are no nupps.

Other news?
Well there isn’t much.

Thanks to a friend from my knitting group (Hi, Pat!) I figured out that if a customer went into the shop and posted an email in the "contact us" section that the message went into oblivion  If you sent us a message via that link I am so very, very sorry.  We fixed it.  (You know this just feeds into all my paranoia!!!!!  Oops… almost typed paranormal).

The sun was out today.

Stepfather still in hospital.  Therapists have him working, sitting up in chair, etc. He’s not exactly behaving but he’s doing alright I suppose.

And that about sums it up.  Uneventful life.  How odd.  I think I could actually get used to this.

Well, must go.   Think I will contemplate that ebay thing just a wee bit more.

Toodles!!!!

  1. Kris – my email was one of those ended up in oblivion. But I’m still having problems. The form requires a state and country and I can’t get the drop boxes to work. So – can I ask my question here? I wanted to order a single pattern, but the shipping on a $5.00 pattern is $4.00. Do you have special shipping rates on patterns?
As far as FPS goes, take a deep breath, but don’t give up. Once you’ve done each pattern at least once and one odd and one even tier, there are NO more surprises! As far as nupps – I’ve done tons of them and always struggled, until I got the Knit Picks needles. I can’t say enough for their sharp tips!

  2. I’m making a telemark sweater too and I’m glad to see someone else in the blogosphere plugging along at it. One thing though. Isn’t the checkerboard thing in there where you cut your steeks? Isn’t it there so things don’t go all crazy and unravel like mad when you start cutting? If not, I’m leaving it out too.
