60 Things

I kinda fell off the face of the earth, didn’t I?  Nothing wrong.  No trauma.  Just life.  So what’s been going on around here?  Well, let’s see……

1. Lost my knitting mojo.

2. Tried to keep knitting anyway.

3.  Watched three episodes of 24 in one evening.  This is never wise if you have a history of insomnia.

4. Enjoyed multiple days of sunshine and one day of actual warmth.

5. Then the clouds returned just in time for Mother’s Day.

6. Put the house on the market.

7. Thought that process went pretty easy.

8. Then I had my first really rude realtor and thought to myself…. "yep, this all starting to look familiar!"

9. Dana is having fun with the robots.

10. Got estimates for moving.  We are moving so far that moving companies can only bilk us so much.  Therefore, it really doesn’t cost that much more to have them pack our stuff versus us pack our stuff.

11.  So guess who is doing the happy dance over not having to pack?

12.  We did a little remodeling in the shop.

13.  Discovered a few days later that when we "remodeled" it we actually "broke" it as well.

14. The shopping cart refused to let you buy anything.  Doh!

15.  Placed a new order with Dream in Color and placed our first orders with Seacoast Handpainted and Zen Yarn Garden.  Can’t wait for them to arrive.

16. Planning a trip to my mother’s.  Mom is going to come back here with me and visit for a week or so.

17.  Mom hasn’t been on an airplane since we flew to Utah together around 1973.

18.  Tried to get my mother a nice arrangement of tulips for Mother’s Day.

19. That saga will be covered under the title of "The Great Mother’s Day Fiasco of 2007" in an upcoming post.

20.  Talked to my dad.  I think I will refrain from complaining about my life too much.  He’s got me beat, hands down, in the "my life sucks more than your life" game.

21. Thankfully he still has a good sense of humor.

22.  Watched the Survivor finale.

23.  Speaking of Survivor…….I’m not taking up for Imus but (really, I’m not!)…. why did CBS fire Imus for a racial slur and then allow Lisa to attack 3 African American’s while using a children’s rhyme that has a racial slur in it? The original version of eeny, meeny, miny mo does not discuss catching a tiger by the toe.  I’m as W.A.S.P. as you can get but that little moment made my blood run cold.  If CBS is going to fire Imus for what he said then I kinda think that Lisa’s little rant needed to be cut from the show.  Just sayin’.

24. Took Anna Grace up to Snoqualmie Pass to play in an area called Franklin Falls.

25.  Got all the way there before I realized the road to Franklin Falls doesn’t open until July.  I wish I had discovered this prior to driving 70 minutes to get there.

26.  Whoopsie!

27.  I had told AG that we were going to a waterfall and that she could throw rocks.

28. AG remembered this. DRAT!

29. We did get to see Denny Creek at a lower elevation.  Denny Creek is what creates Franklin Falls.

30.  We drove up a bit further and crossed Snoqualmie Pass.

31. Ended up going to Lake Easton State Park.  Big lake = lots of space for throwing rocks.

32. AG threw rocks and we also had visitors.  Lots of very fast visitors.

33.  The visitors let the toddler get a little closer than I thought they would.  Made me wonder if chipmunks actually attack and I was just unaware of this little trait.

34. AG said the chipmunk was a mouse.  I told her that it was a chipmunk. AG then said that the mouse’s name was chipmunk.  I gave up.

35. Wanted to go on a boat tour of Lake Washington for mother’s day.  See cold and cloudy above for reference as to why this did not occur.

36.  Decided then to lay on the couch and knit.   This was thwarted.  (see Mother’s Day Fiasco above).

37. I did finally finish the socks.  Since the birthday was one month ago today I’m only a smidge late.

38.  Took a blurry picture of the socks.

39. SIL coming this weekend.  She gets here on Thursday.

40. Going to knitting on Wednesday.  Can’t wait.

41. Bought a new computer.  The eMac was on it’s last legs.  Went back to an iMac.  Got the 20" screen.  Me happy.

42. Spending way too much energy celebrating Paris being sent to jail.  Hoping for no time off for good behavior.

43. I started knitting a baby surprise jacket for Dulaan.  Not sure I’m doing it right but it seems to be working.

Dscn0033

44.  I’m using some stash yarn from Knitpicks that I had actually bought for a backyard leaves scarf.

45.  When it arrived I realized it was way more green than I thought it was.  I’ve got nothing against green…. but even I have limits.

46.  I think the color is called asparagus.  Not sure.

47. AG started saying the word "irritated".  This may be my fault since I was telling her not to take her shoes off in the car because that "gets momma irritated".

48.  Took AG to Nolte State Park today to throw rocks.

49. AG decided to go into the water fully clothed and then complain because her clothes were wet.

50.  I told AG not to go in the water.

51. AG (in this order) looked at me, covered her ears and walked into the lake.

52. I contemplated AG’s potential life span and whether she would actually make it that long if she keeps up with this ear covering maneuver.

53. Looking at houses in Florida.

54. Boy there are some ugly houses in this world.

55. Saw some big hurricane looking thing off the coast of Florida last week.

56. Hurricane season doesn’t start for a month.

57.  Currently the state of Florida is too busy burning to a crisp to be concerned about hurricanes.

58. 3.5 months until college football season.  Go Noles!

59. I will be completing at least one FPS tier this week.  I pinky swear.

60. I’m not letting myself start anymore socks (not even Monkey Socks) until I at least complete Tier 5 of FPS.

So that’s what’s been going on at Chez Wannabe.  What’s happening with you?

  1. You did it with that list! Sometimes it’s just easier to think in that way…I know. Good luck with the house hunting!

  2. Hey! Good to see you back. I think we have met at Acorn Street Shop – Anna Grace rings a bell. Thanks for the pics of Denny Creek, we camp up there sometimes and it is so lovely.
