The Long Catch Up

Sorry about the length but lets just get this blog up to date, shall we??!!!!

How about a listy list?

1.  Dana Haukoos, you just got a new job after nearly 11 months of no job.  What are ya gonna do now???

He’s Goin’ to Disney World (or.. EPCOT to be more exact).

On Dana’s last day of unemployment we went to EPCOT to celebrate.  As a bonus, Dana’s former colleague Mina was in town from Washington and we got to visit with her and her sisters for a little while.  It was so nice to see her.

2.  While at EPCOT we went to the World Showcase and spent some time in Italy.  Anna Grace and I had been reading the book Papa Piccolo about some cats that live in Venice.  Part of the Italy exhibit has an area that is made to look like Venice complete with gondolas so AG and I sat and read our book and pointed out all the things that related to the story.

3.  Anna Grace and I took a trip to Asheville, NC to visit my mother.  We didn’t take a single picture while we were there (my bad!).  BUT… I did go to Earth Guild and spent an obscene amount of time staring at and obsessing over the looms.  I need another fiber hobby like I need a hole in the head but still… I can’t get the things out of my mind.  I did decide that it was a very good thing that I FLEW to Asheville instead of DROVE because that made it impossible for me to bring a loom home with me.  My Visa card thanked me for that!

4.   I’ve been spinning along in our Pigeon Roof Studios spin-a-long.  I’m working on 4 ounces of merino roving in the color Harlequin.

6.  Space Shuttle Launch

Today Lisa, Lori and I packed up the kiddos and headed east to watch the space shuttle launch.  It was a beautiful day.  Okay, so… it was a long day but it was a fun day with great friends, uber crazy kids, great weather and a cool launch.

A Great Day

So… that’s all that is happening around here.  I have cast on my first Nutkin sock (yep… I’m doin’ them one at a time on the DPN’s) and I am completely in love with this pattern.  Matter of fact, when you have to sit for several hours waiting to watch a launch for just a few seconds… Nutkin is the perfect way to pass the time.

Pictures coming soon.

Carpe Llama, Y’all!!!!

  1. Good to hear from you! Congratulations to Dana on his new job. I know what a relief that must be for all of you. And the socks are fabulous. Do you carry that yarn? I know what you mean about new hobbies. I think once retirement sets in, spinning is going to be the siren call for me.

  2. Disney World is the best way to celebrate a new job!!! I LOVE that place! and very cool that you got close to the shuttle lift off area. there are only 4 or 5 left adn that’s a goal of ours to do before they shut it down.
