Wednesdays are for Works in Progress

First up…. The Living Tower.

Week 4

The tower garden is doing great.  The lettuce is ready to harvest, we’re getting some strawberries off the thing and the zucchini has gotten quite huge.  Our first little zucchini didn’t turn in to anything.  We’re speculating that since that was the first (and only) flower that opened that maybe “proper breeding” didn’t occur.  What do we know??!!??

My First Strawberry

The first strawberry was harvested on Saturday and eaten, promptly, by me.  It was tasty.

The Fannie Socks….

Fannie Socks

Sock one is done and sock 2 is past the heel.  If I have enough yarn to finish these socks it will be a stinkin’ miracle.  (This yarn is cursed, I tell ya!)

Cloud Chaser….

Got Gauge?

I don’t.  It is a smidge off.  I’m thinking I can work with it.  If later I end up with a wonky fitting sweater, nobody remind me of this post.

And finally….

Happy, happy, joy, joy

I will be spending to some quality time emptying out these beautiful little packages.  These were a birthday gift from Jack Henry and Anna Grace.  :-)  They know their momma well!

  1. To have cucumbers, you need both boy and girl flowers. You also either need bees or Q-Tips and you can do the bee part yourself. Yes, I know why too much about how to make baby veggies. *L*

  2. Your Zucchini does not need to be pollinated to have a zucchini. Zucchini have male and female flowers. If it’s a male flower, nothing that you do will give you a zucchini from it. If it’s a female flower, you will get one. Only way to tell is there is a mini zucchini that starts to form under the flower when it opens.

Last summer I had one zucchini plant that had all male flowers! No over abundance of zucchini in this girls garden :-(

  3. I love the way your strawberries hang down – so pretty – and no nasty slugs can get to them like the ones in my garden. sigh.
