Well, Thanksgiving has passed ( I suppose that means we can call that project complete?) and now we’re heading toward Christmas. It would probably be best if I simply confess that I have about as much Christmas spirit as I did last year. In other words, bah humbug.
Let’s get started….
Work in Progress: Thanksgiving
Status: finished
My mother came, I cooked many desserts. We went to Hammy and Hampy’s for dinner. Lots of people, lots of food, lots of fun. Wanna see pictures? Well, you’ll have to look at Lisa’s blog because I was a bad blogger and didn’t take a single photo. Lori also blogged about our amazing dessert table (and green bean casserole) but I don’t think she posted photos.
Work in Progress: Christmas Decorating
I haven’t done a single thing with one exception. My mother brought Anna Grace a gingerbread house kit and her and Dana put it together over the weekend. So…I guess it is actually accurate to say I haven’t done a single thing about decorating since I roped Dana into this project. I just took the photos.

Work in Progess: Christmas Spirit
In other words, don’t be a grouch about Christmas. Fail.
I started counting the days until the “day after Christmas” sometime last week. And the 24/7 Christmas carols on some of my radio stations are going to send me over the edge. I need a light sprinkling of Christmas music. The all-or-nothing thing doesn’t set well with my brain chemistry. Just sayin’.
I did enjoy Thanksgiving which is, my favorite holiday. I even got all happy to see that we Floridians even have fall leaves this year. It’s been a total blast to see our little bit of color. We’ve had some significant cold snaps in recent weeks and the end result is some beautiful fall colors. (Locals… go drive CR 561 from Tavares to Mount Verde. Lots of pretty color out that way.)
Regarding my goal to avoid all malls this season… so far, so good.
Work in Progress: Auburn Camp Shirt
I pinky swear that I have been knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting on this thing. And I’m still not finished with the back!
Auburn Camp Shirt: 2 Inches to Go Until I Finish the Armholes
Work in Progress: Carding the Fleece
Haven’t touched it but I did come up with an awesome plan. I’m teaching some pre-teens to spin on a spindle (and I’m going to let them try out a wheel) in January. I think it is only right that I teach them the importance… and the joy… of carding. Doncha think?!!?
Work in Progress: Five in a Row
The book arrived last Monday and we got started immediately by reading the book Owl Moon all week. Anna Grace really enjoyed it and her dad even took her out “owling” on Thursday night. All went well. Then this week we were working on Wee Gillis and Anna Grace hated it. Today I realized that we had actually completed most of the activities for this week so, although we have only read the book for three days, we’re moving on. Tomorrow we’ll start Make Way for Ducklings.
Work in Progress: Tulip Socks
I actually worked on these quite a lot over the past little bit. It was one of the ways I dealt with having a house guest that seemed a bit unhappy to be here. I knitted. I really like this project but it does require concentration.

This project has required one other thing…in addition to concentration…. a consistent us of these:
Little Ol’ Lady Halfsie Glasses
Work in Progress: Letterboxing
We haven’t done much letterboxing lately.
That’s all of the “works in progress” that we have going on around here. What’s happening in your neck of the woods?
You know the last time I went to the eye doctor, she said that at some point “soon” I would probably need the little old lady halfsie’s too. I just turned 40 for pete’s sake, but she made me feel like an old woman!!!! Bah humbug to that!!! I will fight the glasses for as long as I can!! LOL
The tulip socks are so pretty!!! Is that Dream in Color?
Have a great evening!
Marylu
Christmas spirit? What’s that? I have almost all of the decorations up (except the tree), and still haven’t found any Christmas spirit! Oh well, guess the holiday will have to go on without it!! 😉
I hear you abt the halfsies. I need them when I work on a cross stitched snowman on very dark blue fabric.
and I think the gingerbread house was the perfect father/daughter project!
I am liking your Wed. work in progress page! The construction on your g. house looks awesome…what a cute little house! I’m just liking seeing your wips….giving me inspiration for mine
Oh, Five in a Row. I loved Five in a Row! Enjoy! I often wish we could still do Five in a Row and call it school for the day.
