We had a wonderful trip to Victoria. While I liked the city, the best part was staying at the llama farm. Our room looked out over the pasture and the llamas were quite social. I’m a bit late on the Saturday Sky thing but let’s see the sites keeping with the sky theme.
Friday Skies over Hatley Castle
Hatley Castle is a national historic site and just a few minutes from the llama farm. The view from the castle is beautiful. Here’s the view….
Friday Skies over Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains
Saturday Skies over Parliament
As you can see, we didn’t exactly have beautiful weather. This is Parliament. Victoria is the capital city of British Columbia and is named for Queen Victoria.
Saturday Sky over Craigdarroch Castle
Craigdarroch Castle was gorgeous inside and out. AG actually tolerated going on a tour. There is beautiful mahogany woodwork throughout all 5 (yes…. 5) floors. The history of the family that built the home was fascinating as well.
Saturday Skies over Llama Farm
We stayed at Mill Stream Llama Farm which is a B & B and an actual working farm. Lavinia and Alan are the owners and amazing hosts. Lavinia took us on tours of the farm, made us an amazing breakfast each day and caught the eye of Anna Grace. AG got so attached to her that she’d burst out crying whenever she’d leave Lavinia’s presence. She just fell in love with her.
Lavinia showed us how to approach the llamas and we received several llama kisses. We had a great time. I even bought some yarn that was spun from the fiber of two of the llamas living on the farm.
Saturday Skies over Mill Stream
There is a stream that forms the border of the farm. At one point there is a waterfall but it was too wet and slippery for us to head down to see it. This tunnel was formed when the stream needed to be rerouted due to the railroad (I think that’s why they said it was rerouted).
Llama Kisses
This is one of the llamas (I think this is Maggie) giving a kiss to one of the other guests. You put your hands by your side and stick your nose out, the llama then comes and puts their nose up to yours and sniffs you a little bit. It’s pretty cool.
Telemark Progress
I’m passed the never ending lice stitch although I do still have some lice stitch ahead of me. Right now I’m working on the upward pyramids and I’m getting ready to start the detailed chest design. I added in an extra row or two of the gray color prior to starting the pyramids. I just thought it would be too busy to go straight in from the lice stitch.
No Surprises….
FSU lost to the Gators (as predicted). This is a bit easier to take knowing that Jeff Bowden won’t be there next year. On a funny note, the press originally said that Jeffy just resigned as if it was his own noble idea. Nope! FSU Boosters/Athletic Association offered to give him over 500 grand in exchange for him resigning his position. He gets to keep the money even if he finds another job. In other words, wealthy FSU fans bought him out. I don’t know who those fans are but God bless them one and all!
And Finally….
Today is our wedding anniversary. We were married 9 years ago. The 30th will be 10 years since our first date. Hard to believe we’ve been together for 10 years.
Happy Anniversary! Ours is this week (Thursday, fortunately, or I’d have a difficult choice between that and knitting night!)
Victoria is a great place. You need to go back in the late summer when the dahlias are blooming and go to Butchart Gardens.
Telemark is looking good!
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary. Here’s to many, many more. I loved Craighdorrach Castle. The last time we went up there we stayed at a B&B that was literally in the backyard of the castle.
Happy Anniversary. Ours was last week. a good time of year. Telemark is really moving.
Happy Anniversary!!!
Love the pics especially the llama kiss one…I love how the llamas seem to be lining up for their turn
Telemark is looking good, girl!
