Tacky Tourists Hit NYC

I took all sorts of pictures to show you but there was one problem.  I did not pack the cord that goes from Mr. Camera to Mr. Computer.  Drat!  And I took cool photos tonight… really I did.

We arrived here around 6ish, had some dinner and then went exploring.  Yes we had a long day but, technically it was still late afternoon in the PNW so why stay in the hotel.

We went to Rockefeller (sp?) Center and saw the beautiful Christmas tree.  Then we walked to Times Square.  (Oh…. all of this was in the rain. Why?  Because yesterday they had beautiful weather here but I arrived today… therefore….. blah blah blah.  I have accepted that my presence curses the weather patterns of any given region).

Where were we?  Times Square and walking along Broadway.  Very fun.  Very "Americana" in funky sense of the word.  We had a blast.

From Times Square (Oh… on the way we saw Radio City Music Hall…. got a picture…. that you can’t see due to my lack of cordage) we took the subway back toward our hotel.

One big adventure.  AG loved all the lights and she even seemed to like the rain.

On a more somber note we also saw the Ground Zero site.  We are staying in the Financial District.  On one side of our hotel is a view of the Hudson.  On the other is a view of Ground Zero.  We just drove by today but tomorrow I want to actually go over there.

Tomorrow we are just doing more tourist things, being silly, etc.  Tuesday morning we see Dr. Agin.  Her office is walking distance from here and then come Tuesday afternoon we’ll be back to being tourists.

Before I leave you I’ll share one thing.  We caught a shuttle from the airport to our hotel.  The guy was dropping off several passengers so we got a mini tour of sorts.  Now, I am very unfamiliar with NYC, Manhattan, the concept of Burroughs, etc.  Until recently I was a bit unsure if NYC was ON Manhattan or if Manhattan was just another area of NYC.  Go ahead and laugh…. everyone else does!

Anyway…. we’re driving all over the place and I am enjoying the sites.  Recognizing the terms "lower east side", "Holland Tunnel", etc.  I started realizing that I was saying (in my head) things like "lower east side is a ways from …. wherever" when I caught myself.  I started wondering how I knew that information or why I thought some little factoid was true.  Then it hit me.  I have watched WAY TOO MANY LAW AND ORDER RERUNS!!!!!!!!!!

No more TV for me!

  1. Loved your tutorial post and hope you are doing well on your NYC visit. I wish we could have met up. When do you leave? Cam has his developmental ped appt. And it’s funny, I finally remembered the dr. you are talking about. She gets high approval ratings from the NY autism community!
