Thanks to Billie Holliday for the title. We used that song in one of Anna Grace’s videos that covered the time period of last hurricane season… anyhoo… it seemed appropriate.
When Dana left for Washington I understood that there was a high liklihood that I would have to go through a hurricane, by myself, with a toddler. But, as August and then September came to a close, I breathed a sigh of relief and figured I’d dodged the bullet. Not so.
The entire archipelago of Florida will suffer some effects of Wilma’s wrath. Where I am located, near the border of Orange and Lake counties in central Florida, weather wonks can’t seem to decide if I’m in a hurricane warning zone or a tropical storm warning zone. Either way I’m locked in the house all day with a toddler that will be insisting on going outside. So tomorrow will definetly be lacking in the "fun factor". I love reading a great blog written by a local author ( I’m not sure but I think she doesn’t live far from here). Whitney Gaskell’s entry regarding the hurricane pretty much sums things up. No power, no cable, no internet, unhappy toddler = crappy day!
We were disproportionately fortunate last year in that while the entire town lost its lights, etc, we never did. So, I figure we have some dues to pay and I’ll likely be without electric (and thus a/c) for a bit. If the weather wonks are to be believed, however, a/c will be unnecessary starting Tuesday when they claim it will be in the 40 degree range in the morning. That would be so tra-la-la wonderful that I can’t even dare to dream about it! We’ll see. Weatherwonks have lied before….
So, I shall knit today for I may have only darkness tomorrow. Rogue is cruising along, getting closer to finishing the hood.
I’ll blog again after the storm passes, the electricity returns, the internet’s up, you get the picture!
Be safe! I’ll be thinking about you as that storm blows. Here’s hoping that the wind dies down soon.
Doesnt your new laptop have a 4 hour battery? That’s four hours less misery.
Stay safe hunny, me and P will be thinking of you! Damn I cannot believe I’m here AGAIN!!!!!! Can I interest you and Dana in an educated, knitting, cat lovin LIVE IN aupair for AG??
