I gave up on the blog for a week…that’s what! Okay, a bit more than a week.
So, did our week get better? Yep. Did we keep going to theme parks? Nope.
We did a little bit of nothing each day and the week went much better. Dana arrived back home safe and sound and all is well.
Highlights?
1. Anna Grace-isms.
AG was in speech and the therapist and her student have been really working with AG on pragmatics, social use of language etc. They got the idea that they needed to ask Anna Grace what she wanted to be when she grew up and AG just did not “get” what they were asking. They made suggestions: doctor, lawyer and such. Finally, a bit exasperated, Anna Grace blurts out “I just wanna be happy”.
Atta girl!
2. We had many visits from Mr. Creepiness.
Yes, he’s cool. Yes, he’s interesting to look at and I’m fascinated by him. But the fact is, he’s also creepy because you know he could gauge your eyes out in an instant.
Introducing…..Mr. Creepiness
Mr. Creepiness gives me his “I can kill you” stare.
There are 2 hawks like this living in our neighborhood. They just recently moved in and they like hanging out in our back yard. They look just alike so I don’t know if it is the same hawk or if they are taking turns. The first time they showed up Anna Grace was in the yard and she about had a kitten! Now she’s used to them and couldn’t care less.
3. No more locky-locky in the potty potty.
Dana came home and he fixed the doorknob. Little Miss So-and-So decided she won’t lock herself in the bathroom when her father is actually in the same state.
4. Knitting goes awry. Mojo missing.
Finished the body of the Pinwheel sweater and tried it on. Too small. DRAT!
5. Not fair.
Realized I missed the entry date for the central Florida fair. While you are supposed to deliver your items the day or two prior to the fair starting you actually have to mail in your entry form by April 1st. I missed that part of the instructions so…..we’ll be entering next year.
6. We almost went for a swim.
Discovered that when it rains really hard….like it did every day last week…that water comes into our house from under our front door. And through the wall. The house is only 3 years old but the entire neighborhood has really bad construction. This should make hurricane season a whole lotta fun!
7. I need to stop obsessing already!
I’ve been obsessed trying to buy three things. Three things that I’ve been pretty picky about. A new purse (searching for 2 months), a new bible (searching for 6 months) and a new watch (searching for 6 weeks). (Don’t get me started on the fiasco that led to me needing a new watch. That story is ugly.) Last week I finally picked out a bible, today I got a watch and today I decided that the liklihood that I would actually find a purse that I liked is next to none!
The obsession continues.
8. My drug of choice is altered.
My addiction to Diet Coke has, for some reason, taken a Diet Dr. Pepper detour. And a yummy one at that.
9. Speech therapy drama-less
Anna Grace scored really well on both of her evals…the really bad one and the repeat. And now I realize that my assessment of where she was at, what we needed to work on, etc was on target. I need to trust my instincts. Lesson learned.
10. Still can’t find my mojo.
Did I mention that the sweater I spent hours on is too small? Did I bring that up yet???
::bangs head on desk::
Glad you’re back!! So sorry that the sweater doesn’t fit! I love Mr. Creepiness! I am a bit of a bird lover – as long as they are not in my house – then they creep me out – I don’t know why??
So glad to see you’re back…and that a week without hubby didn’t do you in!! When James first started traveling, I had a really hard time. Didn’t sleep well, etc. After 16 long years of his traveling, I find that I don’t sleep well when he IS in town. Go figure!!! And…I know what you mean about the purse obsession…it’s so hard to find just exactly what I want…that I continue to buy cheapy ones and carry them until they fall apart. Becky got me a great one for Christmas…I think it’s a Fossil? Anyhoo, check them out…
Haha yes, lots and lots of rain. Welcome to Florida, the Sunshine State. (I’m a native, you get used to it.)
That’s a beautiful red-shouldered (I think, can’t really see it’s shoulders, it’s either that or red-tailed) hawk you have visiting you. And I’m pretty sure both you and your daughter are slightly larger than it’s usual prey, so I wouldn’t worry too much and just enjoy the pretty.
Welcome back! See, I told ya the anna grace stuff would work out, and you are an awesome mother for taking a stand. 😀 G’luck w/ the sweater I would say that a sweater too small is motivation to lose weight, but the pictures in the other posts show clear evidence that your hotness does not need to lose weight, so I hope your mojo returns soon
wow. what a week. so glad about AG. what’s your purse price range? I love pocketbooks!
I’m fussy too, but found my new one (haven’t bought one in years) by getting a classy knitting bag! 😛 Have you checked out Jordana Paige (www.jordanapaige.come)? Her Satchel and her Bella are fashionable, and reasonably priced for what you get. I have the Satchel in the deep red, and it’s HUGE, and yet looks super classy. Might be persuaded to get a bronze Bella. Two purses/knitting bags in one year? I know, I could be pushing my luck! And here’s an idea, speaking of knitting, of something to do with the Pinwheel Sweater. Why not felt it a bit (or a lot) and make it for AG instead? That would solve the problem. 😛
Welcome to the world of Maronda!
G
p.s. good news for you. You don’t own. LOL!
