I haven’t cast on yet but I’ve decided to knit Nancy Bush’s Friday Harbor Socks using Artyarns Ultramerino 4  in colorwary #101.  These are going to be my project for the Cirque du Socks knit-a-long.  Here’s a photo of the yarn, fairly true to color.  The flash bleached it out a tad but not too bad.

On to the Cut-Out Cardigan….

I took all the pieces off the blocking board today and got started knitting up the trim bands and the neck bands.  In addition, one of the trim bands needed a buttonhole.  This was my first buttonhole attempt.  I got out some of the knitting references and went to work.  I followed the directions for the most part but there was a bit of redneck engineering involved.  I also got a small bit of puckering along the lower curved border of the left front.  I’ll try to steam it out a bit but if that doesn’t improve it… too bad.  I’m not undoing it.  I knit, unknit, and reknit the collar on Dana’s sweater so many times that I refuse to do such a thing on this sweater. 

All that remains is to seam it all together.
