Warning…… fun fur up ahead.
Purple fun fur….. shield your eyes.
And bad photography too!
You’ve been warned!!!!!
I decided to make the Fiber Trends Hedgehog for Anna Grace. So this past week I let Anna Grace pick out what color yarn she wanted. I was a little caught off guard by her choice of fur.
In my mind we would make a cute brown hedgehog. Anna Grace had other plans. All in all, it was a fun project and Anna Grace has fallen in love with the thing. She is carrying it around everywhere and could not wait for me to finish. She even helped with some of the knitting with me doing hand-over-hand knitting with her. And I got an opportunity to practice my short rows.
So, without further adieu…. I introduce to you….
Shelley the Hedgehog (Anna Grace picked that name BTW).

Stats: Huggable Hedgehog a.k.a. Shelley the Hedgehog
Yarn: Cascade 220 and bright, hideous, purple fun fur
Modifications: I didn’t do a contrasting color for the paws because I was too lazy. And cheap. I didn’t want to use a whole second skein for just that small amount and I didn’t have any leftover yarn that would felt.
If I had to do it all over again: I wouldn’t have used such a light color of Cascade 220. I worried the whole time that it might not felt. So, I’d go for more of a sure bet next time and I’d probably do the contrasting color for the paws. I think I would like to make one normal-hued hedgehog so I may make this again. Total knitting time was less than a day.
In other news….
We took Anna Grace out to the Magic Kingdom on Saturday afternoon and stayed for a few hours. Anna Grace hadn’t been there since she was a baby so she didn’t really understand where we were going. When we were almost to the gate I told her that we were going to the place where Cinderella lives. She got a smile from ear to ear!

Anna Grace was a little miffed that we couldn’t go in the castle and didn’t understand why we didn’t just ring the doorbell to get Cinderella to come out. She believed everything was real.
What a blast!!!
What a great visit to Mickey’s land…and I love the hedgehog..it’s adorable!
Well there was a time when I would have had to make a purple hedgehog too. I think it is still cute, and she will love it always.
Looks like she had a great time at the Magic Kingdom.
Oh my god! Shelley is awesome! Talk about an easy way to make it look prickly – look, a legitimate use for fun fur. 😀
I think Shelly is quite the little hedgehog dish actually! Purple is so her color
You can say a lot about Mouseville (and I’m sure Dana could give me an earful) but there’s nothing like the magic of Disney for a child!
That hedgehog is adorable!!! You did an amazing job.
that hedgehog is perfect. i love the face and the color. We are hoping to go to Disney this year…Owen hated it last time we went but what the heck!
