We’ve been diggin’ around on this website for waterfalls in the Washington area. In doing so this week we discovered another one that wasn’t far from the house. It is actually just outside of the city limits. Another cool thing, this hike is on corporate private property BUT, the owners … which is a logging company of sorts…. not only allows folks to use their logging road etc to get to the falls but they also maintain a little path, label trees, etc. We were quite taken by the fact that a LOGGING company is helping folks enjoy nature a bit. Seems like a contradiction but we are thankful none the less.
The water fall we were looking for is called Boise Creek Falls. You walk about 8/10 of a mile up a logging road and then there is a little trail off to the side which goes through the woods for another 1/4 mile. The falls were beautiful. We were so shocked that something so huge and amazing was this close to the house. Anna Grace was, however, less than impressed.
Here’s the photos…..

These photos do not begin to show the height and magnitude of these falls. They were stunning. We were so shocked to see such a huge waterfall. We were both expecting something much smaller. We both agreed that these were as stunning and beautiful as Sol Duc Falls. Anna Grace didn’t agree about anything. She just wanted to go home!
The sun held out most of the day and so, Dana and I had the idea that after dinner tonight we would dash over to the town of Black Diamond. Our main reasoning was if the sun was actually out we ought to take advantage of it as much as we can. There is another waterfall over in Black Diamond that we would like to see and it is a very short hike. Plans were discussed, processed and almost agreed upon. BUT…as soon as we began to finalize this plan the clouds started to roll in. Oh well. We were lucky the sun lasted as long as it did; the weather wonks had said it would be gone by noon. So, I guess you can say we got an extra 6 hours of sun today.
“Extra six hours of sun today”
NOW you’re starting to think like a Washingtonian.
Just wait till the rain stops, and it’s sunny till 10PM, and your kid never wants to sleep because it’s sunny out all the time. Then you’ll wish for rain.
These pictures are so beautiful, I can hardly imagine how breathtaking they must be in person! Too bad you’re not Trekking Along, you certainly have lots of treks to take your socks on!
These photos are stunning! Everything is so lush and GREEN, amazing. Six hours of sunshine? That is hard for this Colorado girl to comprehend since we are almost always sunny. Keep your pack full of goodies for Anna Grace – that is how we used to ‘entice’ our girls up the trails
