San Juan Island: Friday Harbor Socks

I worked on the Friday Harbor socks while relaxing on the island and traveling to and from…. Friday Harbor.  I had mentioned before that the legs were finished.  I lied.  I still had another repeat to do.  I have completed the legs and even finished the heels.  I did short row heels but did not pick up/hide my "wraps" so I’ll have those little eyelet heels again.  Why?  I can’t exactly figure out how to hide my wraps.  Afterall, if I pick them up, then what?

Here’s a status shot.

  1. Your Friday Harbors look great! Don’t forget to write and post a pic of them on the KOTR blog! I thought I would >never< get the hang of that cuff but after several, and I mean several, froggings it worked.

  2. Try double wrapping your short rows. I use Wendy’s (WendyKnits) method of double wrapping and I don’t have holes. I also knit into the backs of the knit stitches when I pick them up. Hope this helps.

  3. I’m using Wendy’s instructions, too. Winn at the Knittery in Renton helped me through picking up the double wraps on the purl side of the short row toe, and the short row heel worked out great! Except for that one big hole on the side :-( I have to tink back to that and add some stitches to pull it in.
