On Saturday we took Anna Grace to downtown Franklin where they were having a fall festival and a Pumpkin Roll.
What’s a Pumpkin Roll? Its where everyone in town buys a pumpkin, goes to the highest hill in town, rolls their pumpkin down the hill and see who gets their pumpkin the furthest.
Anna Grace and I rolled a pumpkin but ours didn’t go very far at all.
Here’s some photos….
Ladybug about town
The Sweet Tater Boys…local bluegrass-ish group playing on The Square.
Some folks have to get dressed up to roll their pumpkin.
Folks teamed up to compete against one another or just rolled their pumpkin for the sport of it.
My mother has a photo of Anna Grace and I rolling her pumpkin. I’ll have to get her to email it to me and post it on the blog. A little girl who was about 5 ended up winning. We were there when she rolled her pumpkin and it went on and on forever. I think her total roll was about 1500 feet. She not only won the 100 bucks of prize money, she set a record for the longest roll in the history of the Pumpkin Roll.
We had a great time and Anna Grace had a blast. Her only complaint was that she wanted her pumpkin back. So…. since we were heading back to SAFF the next day we went back to the farmer’s market and bought her another pumpkin. Happy kid.
