1. Anna Grace is sick but is convinced she’s not sick. She sounds like a barking seal and coughs so much that she probably needs to walk around yelling “unclean” everywhere she goes. But…she feels she is not sick and is highly ticked off that I am making her stay home. So far, I’m winning….but just barely.
2. I’m knitting a pair of basic stockinette socks with a roll top. They’re okay, not great. Don’t like the pooling. Thinking of frogging but not in the mood to declare the project a bust.
3. Want to be disturbed regarding my little town? Well, I went to the bookstore to look at books about organic gardening. They didn’t have any. Not a single one. In a Barnes and Noble…none! But they did have 19….NINETEEN….books about how to grow pot including one on how to grow it organically. Am I missing something?
4. Went to the library in my little town to (say it with me people…) look for books on organic gardening. They also did not have any books on organic gardening but instead their gardening section had 4 books on how to grow pot.
5. Am I living in a small town filled with pot farmers?
6. Dana has had interviews, prospects, ideas and nothing solid. So… we’ll still list him under the category of “what job?”.
7. My cousin passed away this past weekend. I wasn’t that close to him but when I was a kid I thought he was pretty cool. His parents are my favorite aunt and uncle. We’re not going to go to the memorial service but in a week there will be a burial at the small family cemetery in central Georgia. I think we’ll all drive up and attend that service. Not so much for my cousin but for Aunt Nanie and Uncle Jack.
8. I know that last one makes you think that I certainly can’t have any family and friends left. I do assure you that there are still several family members that are alive and well. But I agree, it has been a year of funerals.
9. I just learned that 2 out of my 3 sisters will be here for my grandfather’s memorial service next month (again with the funerals… I’m so sorry!). I haven’t seen one of them in twelve years. I wish the third would come too as I haven’t seen her in 12 years as well but I’m thankful that I will get to see CJ.
10. I think I am officially the only yarn shop owner that keeps an abundance of hamster food on her desk. And for those of you following the saga on Plurk…the hamster is still suicidal but he tries to “off” himself a lot less frequently than he used to.
That’s about all that is going on around here. Stay tuned for a quickie yarn sale in the next day or so.
I’m really sorry about all the funerals.
Thanks you for the pot books story, it was the best laugh I’ve had all day.
Ok, I admit it. I’m disturbed about the organic gardening book situation.
I don’t even know what to say about the funerals. It’s been a day of feeling a lot of grief for me, due to a recent loss. Your posts always cheer me up, though, and I thank you for that.
I’m very curious as to how the tomatoes turn out.
And Chrissy is wonderful.
I have no idea how to use Plurk or why I’d want to. I think I’m getting old. Can I be old with a two year old?
My kids will deny being sick unless they’ve got a fever or are praying to the porcelain god. I think all things considered kids would rather be out doing things, not resting to get better.
Hang in there!
Hahahahahahaha! 19 books about pot – that cracks me up. Not funny really, I guess. Must have missed your post about Plurk. Suicidal? Do tell!
I too was having an off day yesterday, it would have been Scott’s birthday. I made a “birthday cake” on Sunday…and out of the mouths of babes, Sydnee (age 3) said, “Boppa Nanee, don’t know Boppa Scott died and he doesn’t have birthdays anymore!”
Pot growing??? is that still such a big thing? I know my mom was growing some in her back yard and didn’t even know it! (It grows wild around here and the seed had been in the black soil my dad had brought her!)
Yes, I DO think you live in a heavy-pot-use area. Here in Montana it is legal to grow a certain quantity in your home if you have a doctor’s approval for using it for pain management. Also, since not all sick people are going to grown their own, they can “assign” their legal quantity to be grown by another pot farmer. I think quite a few “legal” pot farmers are surely putting aside their surplus for other uses?
