Mount Rainier National Park

Sunday inadvertently turned into Waterfall Day.  We went to the national park and headed up to Paradise.  I wanted to see all the wildflowers in bloom.  Oops.. that apparently doesn’t happen for another few weeks.  Paradise still had 25 inches of snow.  That said it was quite warm up there (mid 70’s).  Another oops…. whose bright idea was it to go to Rainier National Park on 4th of July weekend?????  That was dumb.  The traffic?  Boy Howdy there was a ton of traffic!

After realizing that there will be no wildflower gazing we headed off exploring.

Reflection lake.  When the water is still (today it wasn’t) you get a great shot of the mountain reflecting in the water.  Hence the name.

Narada Falls.  Why does this look blurry?  That’s the mist flying off these falls.  I got soaked taking this picture. These things are so huge I coudn’t see the bottom of the falls and the water is just raging over that cliff.

Christine Falls Part 2- the water drops into this deep pit that you see if you lean over the bridge railing. That pit then empties out forming…..

  1. Hi there. :-) I was searching to see if anyone was at Rainier yesterday when I was, but if so, they haven’t posted yet (neither have I, so I guess it’s understandable). I had a picnic dinner at Narada: my 6-year-old insisted that we had to walk all the way down to the bottom, instead of stopping at the end of the dry area. When we got back up, my wife, who had stayed with the 8-year-old and the dog, said “Erin, why is your hair soaking wet?” :-)
