Hey….look who finally got a little bit of internet access!! Still having trouble with emails so I’ll respond to those when I get to North Carolina.
Moving on….
I forgot to mention one thing about our journey through Washington… we made a little discovery. Did you know there’s a town named George, Washington? (Let that sink in for a minute.) It is on I-90 just east of the Columbia River.
Back to Montana. On day 2 of our journey we started out in Couer d’Alene, Idaho and I made the caravan go by the lake because I had heard it was a "must see". They were right, very pretty, as was the rest of Idaho. We didn’t think it was possible but Montana was even prettier. I didn’t take any photos in the mountains of Montana, just enjoyed the scenery.
My mother and I had an ongoing joke throughout the day: how many times can we intentionally mispronounce the city of Butte, Montana. Why? Because we are twelve!
We stopped at a ranch called the Grant-Kohrs Ranch which is a national monument. It is an old cattle ranch and a great place to walk around and enjoy "Big Sky" country.
(Note: some things on this post are funky colors. I didn’t do that, it just happened. There’s also one thing that looks like a link although I didn’t make it a link. Looks like the internet may be working but is apparently also doing "its own thing". Sorry about that.)
Entrance to the ranch
Anna Grace enjoying the ranch
AG practices her roping skills (actually she just walked off with the rope).
Big ol’ cow
Anna Grace struttin’ around on the ranch.
We also drove by the Anaconda Stack.
There has been some knitting. I’ve been working on the Sun Ray shawl and it is coming along quite well.
The day ended with us arriving at West Yellowstone, Montana and freezing to death. The low temp for the night was expected to be 29 degrees and I happened to be wearing shorts.
Anna Grace has been doing quite well with the car ride but she gets wired when we get to the hotel. It seems she is saving up all of her activity, misbehaving and swinging from the rafters for the moment we get to the hotel. Fun!
I’m going to keep trying to post. We’ll see how long the internet holds up.
Toodles!
Hi Kris….I feel for you with Anna Grace getting wired. When we moved from CA to FL we drove with a 6 and 2 year old…James and I would collapse, and Becks and Aaron would jump on the beds!! Good times….not! We’re praying for God’s protection for your trip.
Sounds like it’s going pretty well tho. I get crabby on long road trips so I imagine it’s pretty tough for AG!
Um that would be a STEER hunny, cows don’t have giant horns like that
