Lots of little things have been happening around here. There’s the usual psychotic, Christmas spirit filled rage that has taken over my every thought but … other than that… all is well. Ahem.
The Christmas tree was eventually finished without further injury and no one going to prison. Good times, good times.
2009 Tree
I made a pair of Nutkins out of Zen Yarn Garden Serenity Sport. They aren’t actually this purple in real life but that’s as close as I could get. You can see the actual color of the yarn here.
Ballet Nutkins
Anna Grace gave these Nutkins to her ballet teacher as a Christmas gift.
In other events… we went with a bunch of Anna Grace’s friends from her school group and visited a local tree farm. The place was so cool. It is called Santa’s Christmas Tree Forest and they have a petting zoo, some rides, a Christmas tree maze, etc. But wait, there’s more…..
Anna Grace and her buddy Sari playing in the hay.
Even cooler, this place has a big bon fire and you can roast your own hot dogs and make your own s’mores. This was Anna Grace’s first time learning the joys of all things s’more!! She totally approved!! And can I just say… I was one happy pregnant girl!!!!
Anna Grace and Seth on the reindeer ride.
Later… Christmas pictures were finally accomplished and I learned a little trick.
Anna Grace’s Christmas card picture
I have struggled for a long time to get pictures of Anna Grace ever since someone told her to say “cheese” to get a picture taken. The result is a horrible little snarl. I’ve tried to teach her to smile pretty, etc with no luck. Well, as a joke I asked her to repeat something gross and lo and behold….
I actually got some pictures of the kid. How? By discovering that she has her mother’s same immature sense of humor. I told her to say “I have purple boogers” because… ya know…. I. Am. So. Twelve!! And she thought that was downright funny. We’re classy like that…it’s genetic!
(My poor father is about to faint that I just used the word “boogers” on the internet!!)
Have a great weekend y’all!!!
Glad to see you’re kinda sorta getting on the Christmas bandwagon. You have inspired me – I’m making a pair of Nutkins for my sister for Christmas. One down, one to go before next Friday.
I have a picture of Hannah and Grace that actually won a photo contest at Picture People. The photographer had already learned your trick–he got such big smiles out of them by telling them to say “poopy pants.” When we went back for our free photo shoot and full portrait package our new photographer was not nearly so talented. She had them all say “applesauce.” Not a way to induce a smile.
Beautiful pictures–do I get one?
OMG Mrs O is gonna LOVE Them!!!!
And great pics of AG. ANYTHING to get them to smile!!!!
