On day 2 at Yellowstone we lunched at Mammoth Springs and found the whole area and the terraces fascinating.
The white is the travertine deposits and the orange is from all the microorganisms that grow at the geyser beds and springs.
The Liberty Cap. This is a 37 foot tall hot spring cone. Currently it is a dormant spring.
