A loom…. a beautiful floor loom… entered my life a few weeks ago. Knowing that I was shutting down the yarn shop I had started to plot what could go in all that space. A loom seemed the natural answer! (Okay…maybe not according to Dana but according to me…. the natural answer.)
My friend Susan has had a loom in her attic for many years. A neighbor was moving, asked them to store it, Susan tried to keep in touch but to no avail and then 20 years passed. Susan doesn’t weave. But…she had a floor loom. She dreams of weaving one day and I hope that through getting the loom restored, we can both learn to weave.
So… the loom is here on “long term loan” and I’ve started learning all I can about him (yes…its a him!), replacing some pieces and restoring others. It is a Dryad Leceister (sp?) and I luuuuuv him. I’m a bit limited because, since I am the size of a small country, I can’t really get on the floor and check out more of what needs to be done. But… wanna meet him?I
I introduce to you…….
Mr. Weaver
(thanks Doug for the great name!!!)
When he takes up too much room, watches too many sports shows, and doesn’t clean up after himself,
can I become his next maid?
Hi, I wonder how you are getting on with this loom? I might buy one which is available, but I doubt if there will be any information about setting it up. Did you get yours working ok? Are you pleased with any weaving you’ve done on it? Hope to hear from you. B
