Last Friday I went to a funeral service for a friend. Afterwards, Dana and Anna Grace met me at the church and we headed out of town…..for another funeral. Since we would have a long drive I thought it would be best if we stopped every now and then and walked around. Good for Anna Grace’s disposition, but also good for my back. Turned out to be a good plan.
I looked up some letterboxes that were scattered along our route and we just made the best of the situation and tried to have as good of a time as possible.
Our first stop was in Ocala where….who knew?…..there is a cave in the middle of town. We went to this cool park and saw the cave and then found the box.

Another stop, this time in Georgia, was to find the Hahira Honey Bee. Hahira is a tee niny town just a few miles from the Florida border. It is actually right near where my grandmother grew up. If ya blink… you’ll miss it. The stamp is located where the town holds the honey bee festival each year.

Another stop on our trip was in Tifton, GA. We got to explore this beautiful park in the center of town all while looking for a stamp called Steel Magnolia.

Everytime we take a road trip, I end up stopping at the Florida Welcome Station that is located just inside the state line on I – 75. What I didn’t know until now is that there is a letterbox hidden there as well.

That about sums up our little adventure. More later on knitting and spinning and upside down tomatoes. I gotta go as Dana has offered to help me with planting upside down cucumbers, zucchini and crook neck squash.
Toodles!!!
You make me want to start letterboxing too! 😉 Looks like fun. Sorry about all the funerals.
Is letterboxing like geocaching? I’ve done that but I don’t have a GPS.
