I did take a few pictures of the house today. It seems a bit odd to look at them. Dana and I have lived in Craftsman style houses our entire married life so this feels a bit unfamiliar beyond the fact that its a totally new place, far away, etc. But, I’m adjusting. The above picture is the outside of the house. Washington folks: see the tree by the corner of the house that looks like a Tiki hut? What is that?
More photos…..
This is the family room and dining room. AG is sitting on an Aerobed, the location of all sitting, sleeping, etc at this point in time. We also have a lawn chair and AG has her pack & play to sleep in. Other than that we are sans furniture. I did ask Dana to go get a cheapie t.v…. I can only be deprived of so much. Movers are coming tomorrow.
Living room.
Now…. brace yourselves. This house was built in the 60’s and there hasn’t been a lot of remodeling goin’ on since then. So, some of the style is a bit hard to take and some is downright shocking. Case in point…. the bathroom floor.
The photo doesn’t reveal the full glory of this floor. There’s the faux gold leaf pattern but the non-patterned areas are an aged Harvest Gold. Lovely!
So, there will be a bit of remodeling goin’ on but probably not anytime soon with The Toddler underfoot. Our days of restoring three rooms of a 80 yr.old house in a period of three months…. long since over.
That’s all I have of house photos today. I’ll try to take more tomorrow…. although there isn’t a whole lot more to see.
What a beautiful house! I really like that it’s not a cookie cutter house? OR is it in that area? The inside looks really cozy, even empty.
As for the floor…At least the entire room isn’t tiled blue or pink
The house is lovely!! Can’t wait to see it with some furniture!
I kinda like the bathroom linoleum — it’s retro and interesting!
Your house is goregous! And the floor could be worse. We had a salmon pink with gold spots and mint green and black in this house. I think those might be weeping cherry’s that have been pruned into tiki huts.
I believe your “tiki hut tree” is some type of a flowering or weeping tree. They grow “hangie downs” which might put you in mind of the moss on the trees down south. Only these are viney like and will HURT like the dickens in a windstorm if you get whipped by one. Once spring comes and the leaves pop out, it will be easier to identify. Hope it helps a bit.
The house is stunning! Remind me to take a shot of my bedroom carpet…it’ll make you glad you only have to deal with the gold!
Oh I don’t know, I kind of like that bathroom floor! Just tell me you don’t have Harvest Gold or Avocado appliances in the kitchen. That was my personal favorite trend. NOT!
I think your house is awesome. The view, the style, the openness. I like looking into your life with your permission! We are currently in our 7th month of a whole house renovation and I have no kitchen! I mean absolutely no kitchen. Hoping to have it done by March 1st. Leaving the main bathroom for last. It’s full of peach tile, up all four walls and in the tub area – ick.
I’d say a weeping birch. Lots of people around here train them unbrella-style. Must be the rain,
Li
