We’re working on some projects around the house. We ordered a new couch almost 2 months ago and it will be arriving soon. So, the family room needs to be painted prior to that. The family room runs into the dining room so…. you can’t paint one without painting the other. And the dining room shares a wall with the kitchen in this pseudo-open-floor-plan thing we’ve got going on around here so…. the kitchen needs to painted as well. In addition, Dana’s parents are coming here in June so we’ve got to unload the boxes out of the extra bedroom. And paint. And change the lighting in there. In other words, we’re a bit busy.
When Anna Grace and I went to Florida, Dana took that opportunity to paint her room. I picked a pretty yellow but once it was on the walls it was a bit more yowza yellow than I had realized. I think it will mellow as things get put on the walls.
When I was pregnant with Anna Grace I didn’t want to know the sex of the baby. This made decorating the nursery a bit of a chore since neutral crib sets are a rarity. I also didn’t want to have a "theme" to the nursery but eventually that went by the wayside. I did, however, find a crib set that I liked. It had a few animals on the quilt and then a dragon fly and a vibrant ladybug. A theme developed and I was ok with it. The theme? Bugs.
We had things around Anna Grace’s room that have butterflies, lady bugs, bumble bees, etc. But the biggest thing was a border that we stenciled along the walls that had the words to the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Periodically there’s a picture instead of a word (i.e. a picture of the sun instead of the word sun). Anyway, I decided to use all the same bedding etc in the new house so I wanted the border back up.
Dana orders the wording from some place online but then created each of the picture stencils himself. He stenciled the wording portion this weekend while I entertained Anna Grace. The little pictures still have to be finished.
Here’s the lettering. Where the space is located there will be a picture of a storm cloud with rain.

Eventually Anna Grace couldn’t resist and just had to get in on the action.
I’m not sure Dana thought Anna Grace was all that helpful.
That’s such a cool idea, Kris! And I love how your husband is so involved in that kind of stuff. I have to pull teeth to get an opinion on anything home-decor related.
AG–what a helper! Bugs is a terrific room decor!
What a creative idea and Dana’s little assistant looks so precious!
