Gamma?

Well, tropical depression #27 has officially formed and is predicted to become Tropical Storm Gamma in the next few days.  Hear that Debi , there’s another one.  Computer models show the thing being sucked into the Gulf of Mexico but no info as to where it will go from there and the weather wonks think it could become a hurricane.  Lovely.

The last Novemeber storm that I can really remember was Hurricane Gregory in 1994 (?).  I was working as a home health nurse and was getting off work at 10:30 p.m. the night it rolled thru town.  It came in a bit early so I had to try to drive home in that thing.   (This was the second storm that year that I ended up driving in, I had to drive to work in the heaviest portion of Hurricane Erin-ripped the windshield wipers off my car).  Anyway, by the time I got near the subdivision I lived in, two of the entrances had been flooded out and the last entrance had been eaten by a huge sinkhole.  So, I camped out with a friend that night.

November storms usually aren’t big, bad and ugly but they drop a huge amount of rain.  I know Debi’s place is in no shape to take on another storm.  Let’s pray this thing just falls apart.  Most of our local weather wonks are being reasonable about this storm, but of course, our usual "sky is falling" weather wonk, Tom Terry , is already declaring that we’re all gonna die. This is typical for him.

Gamma?!!  Never thought I’d live long enough to see us head into the Greeks.  Nov. 30th is almost here, unfortunately there has been a few times that Mother Nature forgot to check the calendar.  I hope this isn’t one of those years.
