Fire Jeff Bowden!

I watched the Bowden Bowl (FSU vs. Clemson).  First half…. all of FSU’s points (9 of them) were scored by the defense.  Same story, different day.  Second half FSU offense woke up from their nap and evened up the score.

It is at this point that I must apologize to the residents of Washington.  That very loud expletive that echoed through the atmostphere… well…. that was me.  I had an uncontrollable response to a Clemson touchdown that occurred with only 8 seconds left in the game.  I may have said something loud and unladylike.   Sorry.

So far in this season I have watched the FSU defense beat Miami (with little to no help from the FSU offense), I’ve read in detail how FSU nearly got beat by TROY STATE (really… by Troy State… itty bitty Troy State) and I watched the offense spend much of tonight’s game in a coma.  So, I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.  FIRE JEFF BOWDEN!  Jeffy Boy isn’t doing such a hot job as Offensive Line Coordinator.

Even Tommy Bowden (Clemson’s coach, Bobby’s son and Jeffy’s brother) made comments that indicate he expected that his brother Jeffy would take some heat if FSU lost this game and his dad would take some heat for not firing Jeffy.  What Tommy didn’t say was that any of that heat and controversy would be unwarranted.  I think even Tommy knows that Jeffy wouldn’t be keeping his job if he wasn’t working for his dad.  So please, King Bobby.  It’s time to do "the deed".  FIRE. JEFF. BOWDEN!

It’s only September and any national title hopes are gone, many bowl game hopes are gone and who  knows what will happen with the ACC championship. *sigh*  Maybe next year… but only if Jeffy gets canned.

I do have knitting pictures.  I have photos of the shawl completed.  (I have been working on a baby gift today from the One Skein book and having so much fun with this little pattern.  Good times. Good times.) I also have a Saturday Sky picture.  But the camera is refusing to download any of the photos.  Hubby Tech Support claims he’s going to "look into" the problem.  We’ll see.

  1. Oh my. Washingtonians NEVER say unladylike things. Now that you mention it, I did hear a disturbance in the force way over here about then.
It’s pretty sad when you’re saying “maybe next year” already in September.
I hope you can make that camera cough up the photos. I hate misbehaving technology.

  2. SOMETHING IN TALLAHASSEE MUST CHANGE!
It has been six long years now, and I am wondering if next year will be better than this one. I can’t remember the last time I went into a season saying this year is going to be a national championship year.
Granted, the ACC has become a much better conference with the addition of Miami, Boston College, and Virginia Tech. But that does not make it any better when the offense is very lackluster in it’s performance week in and week out. It is obvious to me that there is a problem, and it is not being addressed.
I watched and cheered on the Seminoles in a triumphant victory over rival Miami. The next week I watch the Troy game on the internet (thanks to espn – another issue completely) and I said that they played their hearts out 5 days earlier. They have a right to be sloppy and tired. Next came the Clemson game where the defense was the only part of the team that looked rested, practiced, and played. Boy was I disappointd with the offense again. Does this sound repetitive yet? Finally Rice came to town and I was very optimistic about the offense. I watched the offense play great with both quarterbacks and I said to myself that the season is not over, and the ACC Championship game is still within reach. Now comes Thursday Night in Raleigh. (new paragraph)
I could not believe that the first thing that I noticed was that they did not bring the Marching Cheifs. This was a complete embarassment. I watched a tough fought game where the offense looked just okay, and the defense looked really tired. This was the first time this season that I really became concerned. I really knew that the offense could not carry the burden of outscoring the opponent to win the game as well as keep the defense off of the field. Well, what can I say, I had a half an hour drive home from Philadelphia to Levittown to be upset and disappointed again. The offense could not produce enough points to beat a high school junior varsity team once again. Now I am really concerned about the rest of the season, a bowl game, recruiting, and next season.
Once again the offense let the team, the fans, and the alumni down. This has become the norm and I am tired of it. What is going to be the next stupid move that the Seminoles can make. I can only hope that the NOLES can beat Duke this weekend.
Now maybe I have been spoiled for many years, but being is school at FSU and watching Charlie Ward win the Heisman Trophy and the Noles win their first National Championship was an incredible experience. I lived in Florida and tried to make it to Tallahasse for every game up until 2000. I watched Chris Weinke follow in Charlie Ward’s footsteps and make everyone proud.
I look at the Chris Rix era and am very disappointed in Bobby and Jeff. Chris was a tremendous athlete, but had scrambled eggs upstairs. Instead of trying to teach him the system and break him of bad habits in his freshman and sophomore years, they let him go. Everyone knows the story of his junior and senior years. I feel that these four years will define Jeff Bowden for the rest of his life. Now we have Drew Weatherford and Xavier Lee to steer the ship. It seems to me that these two talented sophomores are not being given their due justice for being the leaders of the offense. Both of these two men have the opportunity to lead the Seminoles back to the promiseland and they are being held down by a complete idiot.
Jeff Bowden should do the honorable thing and bow out. It is just too bad that the legacy that Bobby Bowden has built is starting to fall apart. It is a damn shame that Bobby is going to fall because of his son and probably be fired.
I am going to close this rant on a final thought. I have chosen not to wear a football jersey anymore this year to any of the game watching parties. Maybe I might be acting a little childish, but I a truly hurt by the lack of concern coming out of Tallahasee Florida. Will someone in charge please make a decision and soon!!!

  3. what can one say ,

jeff needs to go to Duke in the acc ,
no one will even notice him. and maybe he can grow up a little. and maybe help them a little like sale pop corn and soda at the game,…. you see even old duke is scoring some points in the last few games about 24 on fsu in fact
