Lace Hem Topping Tank
Yarn: Cotton Ease in the color Violet (191)
Used 3 balls of yarn for a size Large
Modifications: Added additional waist shaping and 2 inches of length.
What I learned: That adding 2 inches of length works. Finally learned from all of my “too short” mistakes. I also learned how to do a crochet edging on neck lines and armholes. Easier than I thought it would be and makes a nice finished garment. And finally….I learned that luuuuv Cotton Ease for lightweight, Florida sweaters. I know, I as a yarn shop owner, am not supposed to say that. Too bad, it’s said…I love it!
To sum up: I love the pattern and I like the tank. It isn’t the most flattering thing in the world but it is very comfortable. I’m not real comfortable in it because I usually don’t let my arms show….as evidenced by the visible farmer’s tan in the photos. But…I do think I will wear this a ton. It is very comfortable and nice and cool.
Very Fraternal Handspun Socks (a.k.a. VFHS)
Yarn: My own handspun. Created from Yarn Love Marianne Roving in the color Awakening Earth.
Technique: Toe up doing 2 socks on 2 circs.
Stitch: Basic stockinette with rolled cuff.
Needles: Size 1
What I learned: This is my 2nd pair of toe ups. As with the first, my bind off was too tight. Unlike the first, I could wear them anyway. So I learned that I need to….learn….a better and stretchier bind off for toe up socks.
To sum up: I love, love, love them.
You are so cute! Lovely tank and congrats on the socks!
Have you thought of using a sewn bind off for the socks? That’s what I’ve been using for my toe-up socks and it works really well. It’s a bit like kitchener, but simpler.
Great projects!! Yes CottonEase is great for Florida. I’ve used it for a sweater for Baby Girl.
Love the socks too. Had to go back to see what you meant by fraternal. I didn’t notice right away…..
I have to second the recommendation for a sewn bind off on the socks. It’s super easy and Knitty has a great tutorial for it.
The tank top looks great! Maybe a touch big on the back side of the knit, but overall, very nice.
You could always try the “decrease bind off” – makes a nice stretchy bind off
Love the crochet trim on that tank!
I got to see the tank top in person today and it looks great! Farmer’s tan arms and all!!
My absolute favorite, works every time, even if it’s a bit less tidy is Elizabeth Zimmerman’s sewn bindoff. It works!

Another few, shown in video form because that’s so much easier to see:

The top looks fabulous – nice and summery and your socks are super, duper cute! Great job!
I just love that tank. As I love Cotton Ease. Who cares if it’s not the “in” thing for knitters to buy?
It’s great yarn, and it is cheap cheap cheap.
Oh, and you need to learn to do a sewn bind off. It’s very easy, and leaves a stretchy edge. I learned it the hard way after I bound off a turtleneck sweater then couldn’t get it over my fat head.
OK, here I am again. Here’s the post in which I described how to do a sewn cast off.
