I started knitting a new pair of Jaywalkers. They are actually birthday socks. So if you read this blog, and I know you do, and you’re birthday is coming up well….you might want to turn around for a few seconds.
You’ll notice the not so helpful hands of Anna Grace. She had to get in on the act. I decided not to do the ribbing on the top and I like the way they are turning out. The yarn is Fleece Artist and it is actually a bit more green than it is brown. But… this photo doesn’t actually indicate that now does it?
Speaking of those little hands up there… guess who is officially potty trained? It just kinda happened. Mainly it happened because I convinced her dad to do it and thus, it wasn’t so much fun to rebel against the whole potty thing just to tick off mom. After just 90 minutes of having dad put her on the potty she got the hang of it and now we’re pretty much accident free. We do still have to potty train in regards to "other" elimination type things. (Hey… did ya catch that? I just worked potty training into the "fiber" theme of this post. heh heh heh)
Back to the other kind of fiber….
In a few weeks AG and I are going to North Carolina and visit my mother. We’ve timed our visit to coincide with SAFF the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival that is held each year in Asheville, NC. I have always wanted to enter my knitting or spinning in the fair and I’ve decided to go for it. I know I won’t win but I hope to learn a lot from the comments, etc. So…I am entering a skein of my handspun in the fair.
I started spinning up my skein this past weekend. I snagged some Lorna’s Laces roving out of the yarn shop. The colorway is Lakeview. Here’s bobbin #1 (I’m doing a three-ply for the fair).
There are lots of blues, purples and tans. Also some teals. This wool top is way fun to spin. My last spinning project was slightly felted so not so fun. This is a pleasant change. Even more pleasant was seeing the Gators get beat by LSU while I spun this up. Now we need LSU to lose…. it is in FSU’s best interest.
In Florida football oddity news…. have you seen where University of South Florida is in the polls? Had you ever even heard of USF? They have a great medical school but they aren’t really known for sports. So we were all a bit shocked to see them break the top 10, and now they’re in the top 5. I’m pretty excited about this!
Well, I think my dinner has finished cooking (finally) and so I better shut down the internet and actually attempt to feed my family.
Toodles!
