I’ve been slacking off with the knitting. Lost my mojo. I’m hoping it will return soon.
I have done some spinning. I spun the 50/50 blend of camel and silk and plied it (2 ply). I put it in the sink today for a good soak and I took a photo. However, the camera apparently focused on my reflection in the water and not on the actual yarn. End result? Blurry photo. The yarn is hanging to dry. I’ll take another photo when it is done.
I have been knitting a little bit, a very little bit. Here is one sock. Yep. Just one.
I will cast on sock #2 tonight. Scout’s honor.
I am making these as a birthday gift for a birthday that occurred 2 weeks ago. I better get off my duff and get these finished. Mojo or no mojo. I’m using some Sockotta that I had in the stash. This is my first Sockotta experience and I believe it will be my last. The stuff is supposed to be a wool/cotton blend. I mistakenly thought this meant it would be softer and easier on the hand than 100% cotton. Wrong.
Moving on….
Today I started spinning up some of the batts that I had blended with the drum carder a few weeks back. This was actually out of necessity. Ya see when I finished those batts I just kept putting them on one of the shelves in the family room. Well, if we’re going to sell this house such things need to be cleaned up. I decided that instead of actually putting the stuff away I’d spin ’em.
Here’s bobbin #1
The wool is 100% corriedale.
And finally…. the Forest Path Stole.
I haven’t touched the thing. The FPS spends large portions of time in time out. Some of this is because I’m stuck but not recently. Recently the time outs are because of the TIME that the thing consumes. I am a fairly quick knitter but not when it comes to lace. One tier of FPS takes me hours. HOURS. To give you an idea, one diamond takes me about 45 to 50 minutes. There are 5 diamonds per tier. Hours, people. The thing takes HOURS.
This concludes our little tour of fibery goodness. In the next few days I will show you a non-blurry photo of the camel/silk yarn. Until then…..

Personally I like Sockotta but don’t give up on all cotton blend sock yarns…Regia Cotton Surf and Meillenweit knits up very nicely and Panda Cotton is the bomb!! That stuff is super soft and easy on the wrists!
Hunny, I haven’t even looked at my FPS in weeks and it’s MY KAL!! We’ll get there…someday!
We need a lost and found for knitters’ mojo. Perhaps if you stuck posters on telephone poles?
