Since we have moved here I have been fascinated with Mowich Lake and that general area of Mount Rainier.  Just a day’s hike from there is Eunice Lake and I have wanted to take this day hike for a while.  I convinced Dana and we were all set to do this tomorrow.  I just called over to the national park to make sure that the Mowich Lake entrance opened, as scheduled, on June 29.  Well, it did open.  But, unlike this time last year…. there is still 6 to 7 feet of snow up there, you can’t see the trails and that isn’t my idea of a nice way to spend one of my new summer days.

Need a new plan.  Want to hike.  Want to not kill ourselves.  Want to see something cool.
