Double Dutch Knittin’ Bus

Ever since I thought of the name for this post I’ve had this song stuck in my head.  I think I’m having 6th grade flashbacks!

There’s a double dutch bus comin’ down the street
Movin’ pretty fast
So kinda shuffle your feet
Get on the bus and pay your fare
And tell the driver that you’re goin’ to a double dutch affair….

Anyhoo, I started knitting the Rogue sleeves "double dutch" and so far it has worked out okay.

Now for my knitting confession.  Remember the sock you were going to see a photo of…. the one who had his leg cuff all done.  Well, it was knitted by a bonehead so it no longer exists.  I can’t believe I’m going to admit this on the internet because this is one of those things you do that causes you to be shocked and appalled at your own stupidity.  Here’s the deal…. I printed out the pattern.  You can knit by the chart or by the row-to-row instructions.  I did the row-to-row bit.  The pattern consists of 24 rows.  Sixteen of those rows are written out on page one and the remainder printed on page 2.  I knitted the sock, going and going, and I never turned the page.  Yep…. I only knit the same 16 rows over and over.  Sometimes my brilliance amazes me.  Doh!   So, this explains why I kept thinking that my sock didn’t exactly look like the  picture on the pattern.

I discovered that I had done this after I had followed the instructions (located on page 2) for the heel flap and turning the heel.  Upon finishing the heel I noticed these row-to-row instructions at the top of the page and wondered what they went to.  Then my blood ran cold.

Sock…. to the frog pond…. NOW

I have started over.  I’m using the chart this time, much easier to keep track of where I am.  Still feeling like the world’s biggest ditz. (You’d think I’d be used to this sensation by now!!!!)  Such is life.  Here’s the sock as of this evening.

On a happier note, if you have not been over to stuff on my cat today, you absolutely must go now.  The entry entitled "Absolutely Priceless" will have you laughing so hard that coke will come out your nose.  Its their best photo yet.

Finally, here’s a photo of Dana and Anna Grace. I took this at the Oakland Heritage Day Festival that took place this past Saturday.  Its not the best shot but I have so few chances to get them in the same photo that I can’t be picky.

Well, its off to the bath for me.  Toodles!

  1. Oh Kris, you think that knitting faux pas is really that bad? Stick around, I’m sure I’m due for good one anytime soon, I’m famous for them.

That cat site is hilarious. I’ve got to submit a pic of piper…I just got to think of something funny to put on her.
