I went to my first Distaff Day celebration and had a great time. I met up with some of my friends from the West Orange Knitters.
Knitting Buddies
While at Distaff Day… I finished the pair of Nutkins that I made for myself and I lovelovelove them. I heart them soooo much.
Nutkins
Yarn: Hazel Knits
Color: Olympic Rainforest
Needle size: US 2.5
Modifications… I did a different version of a short row heel and short row toe.
Earlier in the week I had finished another project…. Dana’s Christmas socks that were supposed to be a stocking stuffer. (Instead I wrapped them up in progress…needles and all). I finished them a whopping 13 days late. Such is life.
Dana’s Toe Up Socks for Freakishly Wide Feet …and uber skinny legs
(DTUSFWF for short)
Yarn: Dream in Color Smooshy
Color: Grey Tabby
Needle size: US 3
Dana says…I over compensated for the width of his foot but he really likes them.
While at Distaff Day I cast on for my first shawl in the 10 in 2010. I decided to start off easy and lite and soooo… I am knitting Citron. I’m using Malabrigo Cuarzo which is a kettle dyed laceweight, 100% merino.
Citron…the early stages
Yes… for a pattern called Citron I probably should have used something citrus-y in color but… I had this in the stash and I didn’t have any citrus looking laceweight. So there ya have it.
Other than that… we have been enjoying sleet, snow (nope…not kidding) and temps in the 20’s. We are having fun trying to not slip on ice patches and things such as that. One day this week I actually noticed that our former home in Enumclaw, WA was actually 15 degrees warmer than our current home in FLORIDA!!! Go figure! While I am quite chilly, it is fun to have something so different. Supposedly it will be 70 degrees by this Thursday. This, I think, is proof that this winter can be summed up in one word: Weird.
Toodles, y’all!! Hope you have a great week!!!!
and I am SOOO ready for that 70 degree weather!!!!
What lovely looking ladies
At least you are getting the snow with the cold…I’m just freezing for no reason up here in Jax. 😉 I like cool weather, but I need the temp a little higher than 20.
Are you all doing well? It’s been a while since we’ve heard from you out here in blogland.
