Yesterday was a great day to play hookie. Lisa suggested that we pack up Isaac and Anna Grace and head down to Winter Haven. So… Anna Grace skipped school and we headed off.
The weather was beautiful, the park was beautiful and we had a great time. But… we fear that Cypress Gardens may be struggling. I hope they make it. It is just a great throw back to Old Florida and a beautiful park. Yep… they’ve added rides now but the original beauty of the gardens are still there…. still magnificent.

We had a lot of fun and it was so nice to just relax in the sunshine and enjoy the nice breeze.
That looks like a great trip. You’re right, there just aren’t many lovely places like that left!
my parents lived right around the corner from there. i was sorry we never made it. winterhaven.
Wow looks exactly as I remember it!
OK I have to tell you that when I bought my first house (like 10 years ago) one entire kitchen wall had a mural wall papered up of the gazebo! It is almost identical to your picture you have! I bummed this summer while on vacation in Florida, at hubby cousin’s house (in Winter Haven) I want to go to cypress gardens to take a pict of me by the gazebo, but alas we never got over there!! Too funny!
Oh my gosh! I lived in Winter Haven as a young child and visited there frequently over the years with my grandpa who lived there still. It was “our” place to visit. It appears to have changed a lot but I recognized something about it because I knew where it was before I even read your words. I can’t believe they have rides now. Do they still have the waterski show?
Wow! Thank you for bringing back such beautiful memories for me with these pictures. My times there with my grandpa are some of my best childhood memories.
