Clowns!

That’s what Jeb called ’em… Clowns! During a news conference today our governor, Jeb!, was referring to all the media types and weather wonks standing out in the rain today and telling folks how dangerous it is to be standing out in the rain. He stated that these “clowns” keep standing out there telling folks how dangerous this is and then want to harass govt. officials because folks refuse to evacuate… they’re getting a mixed message! Well, you’ve heard me complain about this in the past, I can’t stand weather wonks over hyping a storm that is really nothing and, even more so, I hate them standing out in the rain during a Cat. 3 like an idiot. So, I got a big laugh over Jeb! Clowns… the man called them clowns on national television. Gotta love it!

Don’t flame me for this as I believe it would be an unpopular opinion in the blogosphere but… I really like Jeb. Always have. Yep…. voted for him…. twice. (Actually 3 times, I think I even voted for him when he lost to Childs.) I don’t agree with him on everything but I like his no nonsense style, I love his willingness to point out when a reporter is being an idiot, he has been great to the Florida Nurses Association and I just like the guy. He actually does quite well during our little emergencies down here and he seems pretty bright, he’s not an alarmist, just level headed. I like him, I’d vote for him again. I’ll probably vote for him if he runs for pres. although I don’t think he will. So, hope you don’t, but…. flame me if you wish, cause…. I like the Jeb-ster!

In other hilarity, and speaking of clowns, the ultimate stupid weather wonk think happened on the Today show this morning. Al Roker was on the west coast of Florida (Ft. Myers?) and couldn’t stand out in the wind without one of their cameramen holding onto his leg to give added support. (This is in a Cat 3 hurricane!!!!!!! Boneheads!). Suddenly a gust came up and Al Roker went down face first. It was beautiful! I think these weather wonks, media types and Dan Rather won’t stop doing this trash until one of them gets killed from flying debris or something. Roker claimed he wasn’t hurt but the man went down with a thud, he’s gotta be feeling something.

As you can see, since I’m posting, we are alive and well. The sun is out and we have a beautiful, and quite cool, afternoon. The storm was a bit icky at times but over all we did quite well. We did get some minor damage to the back of the house so Dana is en route home (he leaves Sea Tac tonight and arrives in the morning) to get this fixed and inspected. Hampy drove over in the storm and rescued Anna Grace and I from the curse of boredom and toddler whining syndrome, he and Mrs. Boyd had chili and cornbread cooking and it was the perfect lunch for such a day. Anna Grace got a chance to play with their grandson and I got a chance to talk to adults. So the day went much better than planned.

We have some yard clean-up to do but nothing like we have had with past storms. Right now its a bit nippy (temperature in the fifties) and we still have some heavy gusts occaisionally but, overall, it is just lovely outside. Woo hoo. The sun always comes out after a hurricane, atleast for a little bit. Its like mother nature apologizing! We were quite fortunate, we have the damage to the house but I think Dana can resolve that in a few days work.

So… I’m a bit afraid to ask this question…. but…. Where’s Tropical Storm Alpha? Are we safe from that one? Please say yes!!!!!!!!

  1. I love the thought of Mother Nature apologizing. “Oops, sorry about that. You know how I get sometimes.” :-)

Some people might disagree with your liking of Jeb, but so what? Free country and all that. But hey, I’ve got *Schwarzenegger*, so I’m not in any position to judge someone else’s governor. (I wouldn’t care what party he belonged to… he’s… he’s… he’s an action film star who mispronounces the state’s name!)

Ahem. Anyway. Glad you’re safe and sound and Ma Nature is making nice!

  2. Glad you´re safe! I don´t know enough about Jeb to either like or dislike, but I think it´s a hoot that he called the weather wonks clowns! I´ve always thought they were idiots for standing out there in the worst weather, like they´re trying to prove who´s the bravest.
