Busy

Things are a bit up in the air around here.  I got so busy I forgot to blog.  I think I’m stuck in my own little land of airheadedness. Distracted.  Totally and completely distracted.  Here’s a rundown….

1. Anna Grace has been having ear infections, rashes, tummy aches, etc for quite some time.  Seems she is a bit intolerant of many foods.  We’ve made some drastic changes in her diet.  This has resulted in a much healthier kid if not a bit of a grumpy one.  Some of her favorite foods are on the "do not eat" list and she’s having to adjust to a milk substitute among other things.  I’m learning some new recipes to try to replace some of her favorite things (i.e. pudding without milk, brownies without flour.  Ugh!)

2. It is cold here in Washington.  Other Washington people will tell you it’s not cold.  They are lying.  It is cold. I’m from Florida…. I know cold!  ( heh heh heh)

3.  Anna Grace has finally started responding to a very important question.  "What’s your name?"  "Ah Gee".

4.  We are getting ready to go on vacation and I am totally and completely unprepared.  We leave Friday after AG’s therapy.    I haven’t put on single, solitary thing aside for packing.  I’m hoping the pixies show up in the night and pack everything for me.

5. The camera works but our iphoto program  somehow disappeared off the computer so I can’t show you my Saturday Sky picture.  (Yeah… I know it’s Wednesday.  Wanna make somethin’ of it?)

6.  We also took a hike to Shadow Lake this past weekend.  You remember Shadow Lake don’t ya?  If not…. here’s a refresher.  Turns out the blue green lake wasn’t Shadow Lake but some other lake.  That lake is in the direction of Shadow Lake however.  I’d show you pictures of the actual Shadow Lake but…. well…. see #5 above.

7.  I’ve been knitting on my shawl.  I’m on repeat #10.  Out of 18.  Not counting the edging.  Might have a problem finishing this thing by Labor Day.  Yeah… ya think?????!!!!!

  1. hard to believe that you have only been knitting a couple of years. way to go. have a fun vacation. and if you find those pixies, send ’em my way while you are gone. i could use some help.

  2. Nice to hear that AG is finally telling you what her name is. And have you experimented with different brands of soy milk? My personal favorite is Silk is Soy but I love the 8th Continent chocolate. And it is possible to switch out milk for soy milk in almost every recipe. Trust me I have tried it. If you want, I will try and get you the names of a few really good veg cookbooks that will help you in the switch for AG. There is at least on cookbook out there about cooking for people with celiac disease that will help you out. Email me for more info.

  3. Alright, I hate soy milk but 8th Continent does taste the best. Second, if she can’t stand that…rice milk is not too bad and if really desperate…Vance’s Potato Milk. It was my favorite by far! Check out Miss Roben’s Allergy Grocer for great products to make life easier! Homemade Rice Krispy treats–have no wheat or milk. There is a fantastic GFCF website and support groups out there…granted most of what I know is related to autism. Enzymes included but I felt better on the diet. Let me know if I can help more. Have fun on vacation.

  4. Uh, I hate to disagree with you, but I just returned from Orlando, where it is HOT! This is just right (to quote Godilocks). AG doesn’t have celiac, does she? If so, let me know – I have tons of resources. My son was tentatively diagnosed a couple of years ago and although it has turned out that he doesn’t have it, I did a lot of research. Glad to hear she’s making progress on her speech. Are you going to be around Labor Day? I’ll be at Lorette’s on Sunday and Monday morning.
