We left North Carolina this morning (Thursday, Sept 6) and Anna Grace and I headed out by ourselves. I wondered how she’d do with the long ride to Florida. She was fantastic. No fussing, no problems.
We crossed the Florida state line early this afternoon. We were greeted by warm breezes, blue skies and wonderful sunshine.
Anna Grace playing below the Florida sign. We took a little break at the Florida Welcome Center.
Beautiful skies.
We got into town around dinner time and headed to one of my favorite old haunts to get something to eat. The BFF’s were busy tonight so AG and I enjoyed the beautiful weather. We headed to Oakland and took a stroll (translation: I tried to get my daughter to work off some energy!) Here’s AG playing by the Tubb fountain.
We took a walk down the West Orange Trail and watched the sun set. It felt like home.
Tomorrow we’re heading over to Hammy and Hampy’s. Anna Grace is anxious to see her buddy Isaac and I’m anxious to visit with friends. Dana and his Dad stopped near the state line tonight. They should be arriving in town by early afternoon tomorrow.
What’s next? Getting the little office we rented set up, Dana starting work on Monday, getting the shop up and running again and getting AG’s school/therapy set up.
Well, I better get to bed. I just kept posting to get caught up. Sorry about the onslaught.
Toodles!!
Welcome home!
Glad to see your trip went so well. You seem happy to be home!
I would love to do a cross country trip sometime to see more of our beautiful country.
I loved loved loved viewing your photos from your trip! What an amazing trip, and we do live in a wonderful country don’t we? It was fun to see places where my friends had moved to, to see places that I didn’t know existed, and great to see AG enjoying it as well.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
Welcome home! I’m behind on my reading, as usual, but have to tell you that for several years, I have had this serious itch to sell most everything we own and just see the USA. Your beautiful photos have kicked that itch up a few notches.
Glad you arrived safely and with no major incidents other than the 3 hour Chicago ordeal. ;o)
So many times I’ve passed that sign and it’s amazing how somehow it feels like my second home (it is my birthplace) things are just better right over the state line…I’m catching up and can’t wait to read about the rest of your travels!
Welcome home to sunny FLorida and the land of humidity. Glad to see the trip went safe!
You are freaking HOME!!! I am so thankful. It’s about time.
So glad you’re back home! =) I know you’ll be so much happier. You might can even find grits in the store again.
Your pictures are beautiful. I did the same trip last year in the opposite direction. I went from Michigan to California and stopped in MN, SD, WY, ID, and a couple of other states. The Corn palace was a crack up wasn’t it? I’m sure it was fun but you’re probably glad that your home now.
