Bizarre Occurrence

The weirdest thing happened.

Last night I was going through my Net News Wire blogs (this is the program I use for reading blog subscriptions).  I always subscribe to my own blog to make sure it has updated properly.  Well, I still haven’t taken down my old blog address.  And last night, two posts popped up from my old address.

Two posts that I hadn’t written.

It seems that Typepad let a blogger have the address already.  I vacated it just 10 days ago.  I guess it isn’t like the phone company that lets a number sit unused for a bit to keep confusion to a minimum.  Thankfully the blog is using a different title, but it is my old blog address.  Right down to the file name after the slash.

There’s nothing wrong with it.  It just feels odd.  And it certainly has nothing to do with the blogger.  It just feels weird.

I suppose those subscribers that never updated their feeds are starting to wonder what’s up.  Well, maybe they can welcome a new blogger to the fold.

Here’s the new blog…..

  1. I’ve noticed that happening with other Typepad blogs – where shortly after the author moves, someone else moves in (celebrity news, sewing, whatever).

  2. Don’t be so sure that it is just a coincidence. especially given that there are ads from the start and no clear About Me information.

Plus isn’t he wrong about the history of knitting? No one else puts it so far back in time.

  3. I think Kate is onto something. That URL has a built-in reader base and that’s good if you’re trying to make money from your blog or if you’re boring as dirt like that guy.

It is also some serious weirdness.

  4. Catching up here. I’d wonder about the writer of this blog. It seems like the intent is to make money from advertising, and the content doesn’t sound particularly original. It reads more like a term paper than a blog post. Makes me wonder if typepad sells abandoned domain names when we’re done with them.
