Birthday Schmirthday

Forty.  Big, whopping 40.  There’s no more denial.  It’s here.  And along with it came a few realizations this week.

First of all, gravity bites.  Enough said.

Second, that “cute” little habit I have of always clearing my throat?  Maybe there’s a reason for it and maybe I should do something about it.  In other words, my next revelation is this: with age comes reflux.

My new best friend

More revelations?  See this face….

Me. Forty. Ugh.

This face is missing something. Ya see, some things have been getting a bit harder to see.  Mainly knitting related things.  And so, when those special times occur, this face will now look like…. this face…..

Me. Forty. Granny Glasses. Double Ugh.

And, besides this post, they will never be seen in public again.  If I need these more often, I’ll buy a much cuter pair!!!!!!

This now ends the nasty little revelations that come with age.  It’s time to start fighting back, kicking butt and taking names.

Just sayin’!

  1. Happy Birthday and welcome to the 40s club. I’m a few years away from the 50’s club myself. Just today, I noticed that my elbows were unbelievably dry…cracking even. I’ve never even thought about my elbows, let alone put lotion on them. Aging…gotta love it!

  2. 1- Forty it the new 30

2- You look adorable in glasses, get a cuter pair, they are a cool accessory these days

3- You look beautiful at ANY age.

4- Forty comes with it’s own freedoms and perks :)

    5- Happy Happy Birthday Hunny!!!!!!

  3. Take it from me, for someone who just hit 50 in December, it’s not all that bad! I feel your pain regarding the glasses – I got my first pair at 40 AND they were bifocals!!! I cried for days.
    Have a great birthday!

  4. You rock the glasses. They look like hipster girl glasses on you. It does bite to need them for knitting, but hey…nice to look good doing it. Happy Birthday!!

  5. Those are adorable glasses. You look younger than me and I am 22 with no children, so really there is nothing but good stuff coming out of 2/3 of those pictures.

  6. Happy Birthday and welcome to the club (I joined in September) It’s a wonderful club to be in and if you didn’t mention that it was 40, I would never have known cause you certainly don’t look it!

  7. Happy late Birthday!

Beat you to 40 and in my experience, life just keeps getting better every year I’m on the earth! Hope you experience that as well!

  8. Thanks y’all for the great birthday wishes. We had a nice, eventful day which prepared us for the big chaos this morning. :-)

  9. Don’t worry– I’m not far behind. Less than 5 1/2 months to go with me! And gravity has treated you well, based on your other pics. You still have a figure and well…I’m a lot more “voluptuous” (as the DH is kind enough to say) than I used to be. And I’ve been wearing glasses since I was thirteen, but I think this past weekend age finally caught up as I had DH install one of those magnifying mirrors in our bathroom so I could see better to pluck out the gray brow hairs and put my makeup on. Bleeh. 30 didn’t bother me so much, 35 or 36 did, but 40 is starting to bother me too. Hmmm. We gotta find a cure for these 40-something blues, huh?

  10. 40 was just another year to me. For some reason 43 is when the bifocals appreared and gravity started really taking effect. But it is better than the alternative.

  11. Okay, if those are granny glasses then I’m in trouble, because mine are roughly the same shape! And you are still so cute. If you ever end up in my area, I’ll take photos of you to prove it. 😀

  12. I beat ya to the 40 line in January. My eye doctor put me in progressive lenses – bifocals without the lines – and called it the 40th birthday present. I didn’t think he was funny. :-)

You don’t look 40 (and neither do I), but Happy Birthday anyway!

    Dana

  13. You look great, and the glasses are totally “in” right now. I heard someone say how they went and got a pair like that even thought they didn’t need them, just because they liked the look.
I am right there with you on the clearing throat/heartburn thing. Who knew? The medicine has helped A LOT. I hope you have the same luck :-).
