Since I believe the baby shower is going on right at this time, it is safe to post the latest finished objects.
Sarah was a huge blessing in our lives from the time Anna Grace was four months old. She took care of AG while I worked and then continued to help us out once Dana moved to Washington. I could not have survived without her. I have known Sarah since she first moved to Florida when she was about eight or nine years old. It makes me feel old to realize she is grown and married and now… she’s having a baby. Soon she’ll be moving to Peru. Her and her husband will be running an orphanage there. She’s always wanted to work with kids (and she is truly wonderful with kids) so this will be like a dream come true for her. I miss her terribly and so does Anna Grace. We were so blessed to have her in our lives.
Anyway… the baby gift on the to do list was for Sarah’s baby and for her baby shower which is tonight. It breaks my heart that I can’t be there but Dana took the baby gift to Florida and got it to my friend Lisa. So, via Lisa, at least we’ll have representation at the shower.
I took the One Skein book and knit up the Baby Bolero and the Baby Hat. Both were knit with Cascade Sierra Quatro. In fact, each took much less than one skein because it only took me one skein to complete the entire outfit. In other words… I bought two skeins too many. Title of book should be One Skein or Much Less than One Skein.
Both patterns were a lot of fun. I had trouble with the hat but the trouble was all mine. Turns out I just don’t know how to count.
Here’s some photos….
It didn’t show up real well in this photo but there is a little eyelet motif on the back that I think is just cute as a button. Knitting these things got me all maternal. I didn’t know how to knit until AG was almost 6 months old so I missed out on knitting itty bitty baby clothes for her. Oh well. Getting too old to be thinking about that for very long!
Awwwww…the little bolero/hat set is so sweet. I’m sure Sarah will love it! I just might have to copy it for my niece who is having her second child.
