I was a baaaaad knitter
baaaaaad sockapal2za person.
I mailed my socks late.
Thursday I went to my mailbox and I got this….
I thought, wow… my sockpal is really on the ball. She mailed these waaaay early. I THOUGHT the 15th was Friday. A few hours later I realized that, no, the 15th was Thursday and…. of course…. I realized this after the post office closed.
My sockpal also sent me some cute stitch markers and she is so thorough… she mailed me the remaining yarn in case I ever needed for making a repair to the socks.
I have to say that I LOVE these socks. They are so comfy and the heel fits my odd little foot perfectly. I have narrow feet… they used to be freakishly narrow before pregnancy. But, even though they aren’t quite as bad as they used to be I have this really narrow heel. Sooooo, socks are always baggy on my heel. These fit so good. Love them.
My sockpal is Phoebe. She has been sending me sweet emails identifying herself as “Ivy”. She lives in Tampa and said she knit these in fall colors and warm and toasty so they’d be perfect for Washington. I really love my socks. Thank you so much, Phoebe! Everyone go and say hello to her.
I did get the socks I made mailed off on Friday. Here’s a photo of them, post-blocking but pre-wrapping, and a box of knitting themed note-cards that I sent along with them. My socks are heading to Texas so I suppose they won’t be there until later this week.
I have started a new sock (another set of “appointment socks” I suppose) and they are in a scallopped like pattern. Using an actual sock yarn has made sock knitting enjoyable again. I think I may even like the bamboos again…. although I still have them locked in the dungeon. I’m currently using a pair of pony pearls which are okay but kind of squeaky. Ya know… plastic on plastic squeaky. I ordered some metal Inox needles but they are on backorder. I also ordered a few Addi size 1 circs. I think I may try to knit a sock using the magic loop method. We’ll see.
Off to knit…. or snuggle up with the hubby.
Thanks for the birthday wishes Kris! Your sock is beautemous! And, small world that it is, Phoebe is knitting MY Rob’s Twinned Rib pattern for her Dad!
Hope you had a fun weekend with Dana, fill me in on the Fiber In!
Great socks, both the ones given and received!
Oh, I forgot to add…as far as socks on circs go, Magic Loop is my favorite but I still prefer DPNs…with all the re-arrangment of stitches with ML, it just feels like there is no “flow” like you get with DPNs. Wendy swears by Pony Pearls, I’m kinda so-so. There are so many other needles I prefer over PP but I think trying them like you are is GREAT!
those socks look very comfy!
