A Very Fibery Day

I accomplished many yarnish type things today. Good times. Good times.

Big Top Roving

Dragon Fibers Roving in the color Big Top

I dusted off the spinning wheel and I spun up half of this roving. It is Blue Face Leicester. Very yummy.

To be able to spin up new roving means I had to finish up my last spinning project so…… I plied up the rest of the Lorna’s Laces wool top that I had been working on for entering it at SAFF. The new yarn had a nice bath and then decided to hang out a bit.

I tried something new. After the little “bath”, I put the new yarn in the washer on the spin cycle. This got the excess water out and my little yarn dried up lickety split.

After that little adventure was complete I actually did some work on the shop. But at the same time, something else was taking a little soak-a-roo in the kitchen sink. And before you knew it….

Flower Basket Shawl being blocked

….a shawl was blocked.

And all was well with the world.

The end.

  1. Beautiful roving, did you dye that?

The shawl came out just gorgeous – I’ll have to go back and take a look at how many repeats you ended up with. It’s one that’s been on my list for a while.

    Have a wonderful day!

  2. Ok, soooo much of this is totally over my head, but you SPIN…as in have a spinning wheel and actually spin your own yarn? I see a field trip in my future :-). That’s one of those “always wanted to learn to do it” things for me. You just keep amazing me. Are you raising Alpacas in your back yard too? (That’s another dream of mine…I know, I’m just odd). Oh, and any time you want to make me one of those shawls…or maybe matching ones for AG and SG…never mind me, I’m just dreaming, LOL.

  3. I’m so glad you like the Big Top. I will have to keep coming back to see what it becomes. I love being able to see what folks make out of my rovings.
